 League Cup standings

Now that we`re no longer in the cup, I thought I`d take a look at the standings in each group. They probably don`t tell us that much, because clubs will still be bringing in players, but maybe they give a bit of a sense of the season ahead.

Group A
Falkirk won as they ought to have done. Cove Rangers outperformed their league position and Queens Park underperformed.

Group B
Partick and Stranraer both did better than their league positions and Ross County and Queen of the South both did worse.

Group C
An outstanding performance by Alloa. A decent performance from Airdrie and a disaster for Dundee.

Group D
Seems to be entirely to form...unfortunately.

Group E
Much as expected, but with Dumbarton outperforming Hamilton Accies, who probably have a tough season ahead.

Group F
Nothing remarkable. East Kilbride looking better than expected...unless you played them in pre-season.

Group G
Clyde did well. Motherwell and Morton did what they should have done.

Group H
Entirely to form.

Overall not many shocks. Good to see that Ross County might not have it all their way this year, for obvious reasons. Dundee fans will be starting the season furious and long may that continue for PBS. Alloa fans will be feeling pretty optimistic. Other than that, there`s not too much to write home about, but I might put a couple of quid on East Kilbride to come up from League 2.

The Pars did what the league would suggest we should. Subtract a couple of bad mistakes at Hearts and we`d still be in it.
