A footnote to the document states -
1 The first clubs to use e.g. player analytics would in principle have had a valid R&D tax relief claim.
As the practice is now widely applied I don`t think any subsequent use would be considered to be R&D. Besides, this relief would only be of immediate benefit if a club were making taxable profits and we haven`t been in that position for some time!
