 Andy Tod

For a player that`s "not a striker" Andy Tod is popping in a lot of goals. When we do finally sign another striker I hope he`s as prolific!

There`s quite a lot of people mentioning how Andy Tod looks knackered late in most games. He definitely puts in a shift, but I think his running style is also part of the perception problem. He looks knackered every time he runs, even right at the start of the match. He doesn`t look like he`s moving that quickly, but he still seems to cover the ground.

Most of the time it`s because he`s in the right place at the right time. Reads the game pretty well which is what we`ve missed the last few seasons. But getting forward a lot more and putting the ball in the mixer will always produce more goals than passing it back and forth around the back...

The header he made when the ball came to him fast on the touchline in front of the NW made me think the boy has a much faster brain for football than I have seen for some time or whether he was lucky. Also his frustration when a move he could see from Airdrie due to lack of cover happened makes me think he is actually tactically quite astute also. Great to see him on from the start as he troubles defenders all the time.

His arial game needs worked on. Plenty of long balls up towards him where he didn’t even look for the ball and just tried to run into the defender/hope the defender missed it.

That aside he looks a very tidy player and has a very bright future.

His Dad had the most unorthodox running style too but was highly effective. Looking for big things from Andy Jr. and Jon. Funny to think that Andy has been around the first team for a couple of years now, whereas Jon has only been involved this season, but has made an even bigger impact.
And there’s one more brother to come!

He`s looked `knackered` in the latter stages of a few games but, if you look at the footage of his goal yesterday, he looks knackered when he runs over to the corner flag to celebrate. As I`ve said before, if there was a serious issue over his stamina it would be clear from the computer data that`s collected from all the players and would be addressed.

I was just thinking that myself, Andy Tod was all elbows and knees when he ran....didn`t realise there was a third brother, is he a player, and with us, too?
