Top-flight German football will be shown live on the BBC this season after rights were secured to broadcast one Bundesliga match a week through to 2027.
The coverage will start on Friday, 22 August when defending champions Bayern Munich welcome RB Leipzig to the Allianz Arena. Other confirmed games include 2023-24 champions Bayer Leverkusen against Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayern v Werder Bremen. All matches will be available to watch live on the BBC Sport website, app and on BBC iPlayer every Friday, with clips of the biggest in-game moments across BBC Sport`s social media channels.
Alex Kay-Jelski, Director of BBC Sport, says: "To be able to include Bundesliga matches within our live football offering is phenomenal, especially Bayern Munich`s opening game featuring England`s captain Harry Kane.
"I`m proud BBC Sport has such an impressive portfolio of football coverage across all of our platforms - from live games to highlights and digital clips, to breaking news on the website, we`ve got fans covered this season."
List of confirmed fixtures and dates with more to be announced in due course:
(Kick-off times 19:30 BST)
Bayern Munich v RB Leipzig - 22 August
Hamburg v St Pauli - 29 August
Bayer Leverkusen v Eintracht Frankfurt - 12 September
Stuttgart v St Pauli - 19 September
Bayern Munich v Werder Bremen - 26 September
How does this tie in with BBC Scotland`s coverage of the Championship I wonder?

Not sure this is a good use of licence money.
No doubt they will never stop banging on about Harry Kane.
The BBC has been spreading itself too thinly, with standards down, it really needs to work out what it is and what it wants to be.
I watch almost no TV now (I`m 59) like a lot of people, I listen to Radio 6 and 4 (though that is diving in quality) and Off the ball on R Scotland - the rest is rubbish.
I can`t see the licence lasting 10 years.

The licence is a massive pain on the bum. Just put adverts on to fund it,everyone is used to adverts anyway.
As for a bit of German football, this is a hood thing. I enjoy a bit of German football. What i would like, is a bit of lower league foreign football like ligue 2 and Bundisliga 2.

These games will not be shown on any tv channels according to that statement. Online only through app or website. BBC Scotland will still be showing championship games, BBC1 will still be showing the One Show and BBC2 will still be showing some cook/travel show in Cornwall.

They`ll also be on the iplayer.
This Friday West Ham v Chelsea is scheduled as well as Derby v Bristol City. Non-Premiership games are quite common on Friday evenings but presumably that doesn`t prevent broadcasting of these German games. I think we`re getting to the point where `more` means `less` as far as live football is concerned.

I don’t normally watch any foreign football as no interest or connection with any English, Spanish, Italian teams…
However I am sitting with my fc köln cap on today and do have family connections there, so if the Billy Goats are playing then might just tune in

Every single 2. Bundesliga game will be streamed FOR FREE in the UK from this weekend on the Bundesliga’s YouTube channel, as well. Great news, we`ll get to see S03+1 getting pumped every week.
