I feel so sorry for the players tonight that a mistake and the post has cost us a point . But now after a few hours and the dust settling am thinking just shows how far the team has come in short space of time . I already want to fast forward to the play-offs in front of 8k at east end . COYP performance like tonight and a little luck we finish top 4 no problem.

You look at the table and the fact we’ve got three games at home on the bounce - fantastic opportunity coming up.

I looked at the live table at halftime and noted we were sitting second. I think that is a realistic ambition for this side. That game could and probably should have ended a draw. We`ve come a fair way from where we were this time last year.

Their goalie turned up and ours didn’t simple as that. When you watch it back it’s absolutely insane Munn doesn’t go up to catch the ball.

He just watches it land at whoever their player is, whoever our player is who people might say have lost his man, that is munns ball and that goal is his fault

Agree with above. I’m sure we’ll get to playoffs and will have grown into a better team by the time we get there. Might just give ourselves a good chance !?

I said just before the game to my mate that I’m no sure about our new goalie yet. He then proceeds to make some good shot stops. Munn kept us in the game. However, in my dumb opinion I feel he cost us the game too. He seems very robot-like at times and I’m not sure his communication is at all present. St. Johnstone probably deserved to win by at the same time losing that game was avoidable. I hate saying this but Munn is a weak link from what I’ve seen so far. I hope he proves me wrong but I feel it’s now fairly straightforward how to exploit such an obvious problem.

What I like about Lennon is that he says it how it is in his pre match interviews. Last night came down to two defensive mistakes 1. switching off at the corner, and then for the second goal the keeper and Kearney both have to do their jobs better.

With a young and relatively inexperienced team, you’re always going to get mistakes and lapses in concentration. That being said, the confidence Tod showed to go for the free kick at the end instead of just putting it into the box says a lot about the belief these young players have.

We’ve come a long way in a short period of time. The fact that we’re gutted to lose to the top side in the league, and a team relegated from the Premiership, shows the progress we’ve made. Plenty to work on, but also plenty to be encouraged by.

c'mon the pars

Such a young team are always going to make mistakes, you can only hope munn learns from it and its not repeated so as the season goes on there are fewer mistakes and loses turn into draws and draws into wins.

Night and day last night between that and the rovers game. We’re coming along nicely.

Saints will win this league at a canter, very big physical team will no shortage of skill and movement etc either, have to hope mcpake gets a jan move!

Jeez. That was very positive, are you okay Berkey? ,😉

Agree with everything said there though. St Johnstone are the best team in the league, well drilled, fit and strong, packed with experience. Despite that, our young lads gave them a good game, they`ll learn from it, and take some confidence from it

Honestly have nothing but positives to say about the team after that last night. Extremely resilient after a load of pressure in the opening 20 minutes which is progress from the Hearts/Raith `big` games where the team conceded early.

After that early spell, it was an even game and we matched their play. That is progress and we`re seeing players get better every week that have come into the lineup. Compared to last season the style and comfort in passing the ball is night and day, as are the energy levels and willingness to get forward where possible.

McLeod`s goal is something that simply wouldn`t have happened under the likes of Tidser, McPake, Grant or Hughes. If not for a couple of wonder saves at the end, Andy Tod would`ve been the hero, but he is turning into a terrific player.

For the first time in many seasons, we look a real threat going forward and I think Càceres is an instrumental part of that, he is a class player. There`s still work to be done in getting a more rounded squad I think, but I just want to see good football first and foremost after the snorefests we`ve all endured in recent seasons and Lennon with his squad is certainly entertaining now.

Although I agree he could have at least got a hand on the ball, I think it’s a bit harsh to say he didn’t turn up. Apart from the goal and a questionable pass out to Bene he played well pulling off a few really good saves to keep us in the game.

Came away from last night in a better mood than expected despite the defeat. The manner of the defeat and the fact we were denied an equaliser tat the death on 3 occasions by top saves probably helped that.

Munn certainly cost us though. Why he’s not putting his arms up for the cross is baffling. Thats basic goalkeeping. And the saves he made first half Deniz would have made comfortably as well. And he would have taken the cross in.

Still feel we need another striker, which could be forced on us with Ruddens knock. I don’t think Lennon fancies Kane, as he cant last 90 minutes. Thats clearly an important trait that Lennon wands in players.

Good post, Berkey. Just goes to show your posts are only negative when you have reasons to be negative. 🙂

Yes, but not as much as after the rovers game!!
the team learnt from the Rovers game and will do so after last night too. we are a young team and both games we were bullied in the middle of the park, NL made a wee adjustment and we came into the game more.

ST J are a big team and very experienced into the bargain and we almost pulled off a remarkable result, the team are improving all the time and I am sure we will see us being near or near about the top two IMHO, no one else in the league has NL experience and with the team gelling it will make an interesting season, one thing is for sure although ST J sit top and are unbeaten, they will no doubt hit a bad patch and we just have to continue to improve and get more streetwise against those who will bully us throughout the games.

We rode our luck last night and the defence were good to get through it so all in all not disappointed but Gutted we just fell at the final fence so to speak.

More confident of finishing in the top four, but top two is there for us so onwards to Tuesday and three home games wanting nine points, but I may be a bit optimistic, but why not? this will be a big test for the team three games in nine days. so lets get EEP rocking.
