 The morning after

Yes the referee was shocking last night but the reason we got beat was that wee were a mile off it last night the team selection was strange after our last two games what was more dissapointing is that we were beat by a very poor Ayr team we must get an experience forward who can step in when someone is injured in this league a young forwards line will just get bullied that`s second time it`s happened I suppose the fact that everyone is so dissapointed shows we have came on a bit from last season and we all know we are better than that performance we`ll have these kind of games this season but if we all stick together we will get there ...coyp

I don`t think we were a mile off it.

Was it our best performance? Absolutely not. Flipside, they didn`t really harm us other than the goal which shouldn`t have have harmed us.

Thought Otoo struggled LWB, Tash was awful first half but very good second half and shows what he can do - just need his consistency to improve.

They naturally created more chances when we opened up and started chasing.

Desperately missing a fit number 9 for me. They bring Oakley on, makes intelligent runs and bullies defenders. Kane looked active when he came on but not much point with 5 to go.

"Flipside, they didn`t really harm us other than the goal"

........There were at least 2 x 1 on 1`s with the keeper and they missed a couple of sitters.

I dont blame the defence, you have to take chances when you are down to 10 men.

The ref was Yellow happy and handing out bookings for fun. Not the Ref to backchat. Stupid sending off.

Which yellow card was unjustified - apart from Mullen`s questionable second ?

Their No.22 got one for trying to delay a free kick - I wish more referees would follow suit.

Don`t get me wrong the referee was erratic, allowed a couple of blatant pushes on the player`s back - one each team - but I don`t subscribe to the card happy mindset - I thought they were all justified.

After we went down to 10, I can`t really remember any real chances prior to that

So frustrating we deserved something from last nights match. Team is moving in the right direction.

Hope we are looking to try and get a striker in on loan if possible from SPL club, even a short term one till January. Rudden is a big miss already.

One trait NL hasn`t managed to change unfortunately is our tendency to concede really soft, avoidable goals which the opposition doesn`t have to work too hard to score. That undoes a lot of the general improvement in our passing, pace, movement, etc.

Poor first half. Looked a bit like how we played under McPake.

Second half much better and unlucky not to get something out of the game.

Got to say that JCM needs dropped. Hope Abdulai gets his chance now because Mullen again showed what a liability he is. His ball control is awful. His first touch is so bad that his second touch is a slide tackle.

We need to start games much better and get forward with more purpose.

Very disappointed after that great win in Arbroath.

I wasn`t there so it`s maybe not fair for me to comment but the line-up didn`t sit right with me. TOB in particular hasn`t shown anything that suggests he should start. However, I`m sure there are reasons.

From what I gather, we came into the game after some subs. Unfortunate to lose Mullen but these things happen. The Ayr goal looked avoidable on the video I`ve seen.

Overall, pretty disappointing not to get something out that game. It`s a game we should`ve been winning tbh.

I am like others here , last night I was raging at the way we always start a game Lethargically , We are at home we should be going at teams !
And as Wee Eck says why oh why do we keep giving teams soft goals that are avoidable ! we all saw what happened last night once Ayr was a goal up they were happy to let us come at them as they knew we didn`t have a recognised striker on the park someone who can actually bully defenders or win balls in the air
Lesson`s to learn from games like these !
And we really need to start scoring first against teams like Ayr or this will be the pattern from teams they will just shut up shop , and that was a very average Ayr team that we should really have beaten
And I won`t even start about the referee !

Failing to book the Ayr player (McMann possibly) for a dive in the box summed up a poor refereeing performance.
I thought we looked good going forward with 10 men and that we were crying out for Kane to get on the pitch a lot sooner than he did.
As much as Ayr did carve us open, at times, you kind of have to expect that being a man short and take risks I felt we deserved a rub of the green in that last 10 minutes with the chances we had.

Gutted after last night.

From the start never looked like we would get anything. Ayr were well organised and had the measure of us.

It’s 1 step forward and 1 step back for us. As much as I rate Kane we can’t have a part time striker. Was it Andrew Tod who hit the bar last night?

Lennon cost us three points last night with that lineup. Did he learn nothing from that pathetic rovers display?

My worry is the keeper, some brilliant saves but too many mistakes, is it just age and inexperince, possibly. Happened against raith, stj and now, ayr.

It was a different keeper on Tuesday. It’s definitely a weak spot for us. What’s Tobi up to? Still in the Celtic reserves?

Yes according to the usual websites, but the odd time I see a line up (like last night), he’s not even on the bench for them.

We should find out how much they want for him. Surely he would prefer first team football.
