Dunfermline Athletic fan gets football ban for Morton attack

Just read this. The guy is 30 years old!

What does he do, go home and watch cartoons? Does he have a "meet me at McDonald`s" haircut? I`m assuming he doesn`t work- what kind of job could a man child like this do?

While not condoning Football violence, how would you deal with Morton fans treatening Pars fans with knives.

There is also plenty evidence on line showing a Policeman using excessive force anything happening to them?

Should have stuck to photography.

Jokes aside, it`s not his first time in court for violence. He`s lucky not to be in jail.

I get that people will react when provoked but it`s not hard to avoid bother. This is Greenock, not Green Street.

Yep. I’ve always said if you look for trouble, you will undoubtedly find it.
In saying that Greenock was always a dangerous place to go.
I mind having a to and fro with a fan back in the 90’s between the barrier fence on the terracing.
Lo and behold he was waiting outside for me but thankfully walking out with all my bus mates put him off confronting.

Wish people would stop trying to get the officer done - guy barged over a person pushing another officer and trying to intervene in an arrest. Doesn’t matter their age, they shouldn’t have been doing that in the first place.

Honestly, before saying anything I’d like to know what actually happened. Like not just a clip of one moment but the whole thing - from the first moment of interaction between everyone right through to police lifting folk. To me it’s the only way to get a gauge of how out of order or justified someone’s actions are.

Im not saying he was right or wrong (I genuinely don’t know) I’m just saying it seems like he’s reacted to something and considering some have mentioned Morton fans with a knife and he’s tried stopping someone from being arrested or something? It doesn’t seem as clear cut as he’s went out of his way for a confrontation but I also don’t know that for certain 🤷🏻‍♂️

Greenock isn’t exactly a safe haven for humanity tbf. High rates of poverty and violent crime. Wouldn’t surprise me if an idiot from there decided to attempt something stupid.

On the other hand just 10mins down the road, Inverkip/Wemyss Bay - absolutely stunning. Low crime. Beautiful scenery. One of my favourite areas in the country. Get the ferry out to Rothesay… great stuff. I’d be surprised if someone from there decided to attempt something stupid 🤷🏻‍♂️

Don`t ruin my clever line 😉 You`re right though, Inverclyde is largely a pretty bleak place when you look at the stats. Folk slag Fife but it doesn`t have anywhere near the levels of deprivation you see in the west of Scotland.

I`ve only seen the short clip too, but given the guys been done for assault outside pubs in Dunfermline TWICE, it doesn`t suggest this was a one-off. Hopefully he learns his lesson and turns his life around as I`m sure there`s a reason behind the outbursts.

I’m basing this entirely on the 1979 BBC drama ‘Just a Boys’ Game’, but I reckon Greenock’s always been full of wee neds.

I normally wouldn`t get involved with any chat about this kinda stuff however having witnessed some of the incident I feel I want to put my tuppence in. We were leaving the game when some of the younger dafc boys (I`m talking 11/12/13 years maybe) started approaching the Greenock fans squaring up to them, acting like wee hard men. Then this older lad (think it`s the one that got the ban) came running round from where the buses were parked on main road and told the younger ones to get back on the bus... From what I could see he was originally trying to look after the young ones and just get them back on the bus but by this point the Greenock fans were coming at the Dunfermline fans. We headed up onto the verge from that point towards the car park and watched and filmed from there as we felt the police were being particularly heavy handed with our fans . I don`t condone violence in anyway and hate that the great atmosphere that the fans in the north west can create during games is tarnished by the mindless behaviour of some. That said, I feel from what I witnessed the guy that got the ban originally was trying to step in to stop a situation. Could be wrong but my partner felt the same when he heard of the outcome.
Not nice to see, I go to all home and away games and this was the worst incident I`ve seen in years.

Edited post thanks for that red Star par. To be honest it was more that we didn`t feel we had anything that the police didn`t already know themselves or anything new that wasn`t already circulating online but I take your point and advice. Thanks
