Neil Lennon admits the first derby of the season was probably Dunfermline`s "worst performance of the season" but is determined to see a vastly improved display on Friday night. Key quotes:
• "We didn`t play particularly well in the first derby so we have to try and resurrect that and play a lot better. That was probably our worst performance of the season."
• "Trying not to concede in the first two minutes, that would help. I didn`t think there was much in the game in the first half and then I thought we had a lot of the ball in the second half."
• "I`m looking for improvements, looking for the win obviously. I want us to dominate the game. I want us to dominate with football and our physicality as well."
Lennon emphasized the importance of using the derby atmosphere: "You`ve got to buy into it and enjoy it. They don`t come around that often, especially at home and under the lights. You`ve got to really suck it up, take it all in and use it as an advantage."
Despite recent struggles without a goal, Lennon remains positive: "We`ve hit the woodwork four times in a row. I don`t know if that`s a record or something like that. If it happens again I`ll definitely think I`ve run over a black cat somewhere along the way."

📰 THE COURIER - "Where Neil Lennon admits Dunfermline must improve in Fife derby after `worst performance`" (October 16, 2025)

The Courier`s Iain Collin reports that Lennon has branded the August derby defeat as their "worst" display but insists they`re in a much better place now. The Pars go into Friday`s televised encounter without a win in their last four games, sitting seventh in the Championship table.
Lennon told The Courier: "I don`t think we`re playing badly at all. I think we`ve played quite well in the majority of the games. And, speaking to people in the game who`ve been to watch us, they`ve been quite complimentary."
The starting XI is likely to be vastly altered from the one that lost in Kirkcaldy, with possibly only four players remaining for Friday night.
