Could be the next pars player to earn a big money move if the rumours about scouts from Brighton being at the game on Saturday watching him are true

I really like A Tod. He`s surpassed my expectations massively, but I can`t believe he`s good enough for Brighton to come knocking.

English Premiership clubs don`t recruit promising young players to go straight into their first teams. They`re looking for investment potential and AT has that.

Seems possible to me.

Looking out for players below a certain age who are playing a decent proportion of a clubs first team games seems like an obvious measure to trigger further scouting/analysis.

Would imagine Ronan Hale of Ross County will be on a few clubs radar!

He would collapse in a heap if he feel the radar touch him.

Since the UK left the EU the EPL clubs have found it harder to sign promising talent from the Continent and have reverted to the UK market. A lot of young Scottish players have moved south `under the radar` without establishing themselves up here as they are offered much better financial terms and their clubs can share in that as well. Billy Gilmour and Ben Gannon-Doak are two high profile examples and, although neither `made it` initially, they`ve prospered ultimately.

An added attraction of someone like Andrew Tod is that he has had some experience of playing `men`s football` and it hasn`t fazed him.

Although your examples are well intenioned, both Gilmour and Gannon Doak moved down south at 16, with Gannon Doak actually having a couple of appearances for the Celtic first team
Andrew will be 20 in February and you would think won`t be in EPL clubs thinking of a player to be developed.

I would tend to think that any move away would be similar to Josh Edwards...

Josh Edwards was 24 when he joined Charlton so his case isn`t really similar to Andrew Tod`s either. My main point was that top English clubs are now more interested in the Scottish market than they were when they had easy access to the European market.

Josh Edwards was 20 years old ( maybe 19)when he started to play regularly for Dunfermline so my example is very similar
If you believe that Andrew is ready to play at that level after the low number of games he`s played for us, you`re totally entitled to that opinion

It`s good to know my examples were `well-intentioned` and that I`m `totally entitled to my opinion`. All I was saying (as were others) is that I`m not surprised an EPL club would be interested in him.

Epl clubs sign alot of younger player`s stick them in the under 23s and see if they can develop them. The cost to sign any of our 20 year olds on a 3 year deal will be pennies for them. Cast the net far and wide, bit of data to lead but ultimately through enough **** at the wall and something will stick

It`s far from the first time that a decent thread on this forum has descended into an argument about something only tangentially related to the original topic, but it`s probably the first time this new argument has been about quotation marks ... :(

Apologies Stanza, I mistakenly thought i was about to enter into a healthy debate regarding the merits of how feasible the idea of Andrew Tod maybe having the possibility of making a move down south to an EPL team.
It does seem that my counter to the examples that were given has seem to be seen as a slight to the previous post.
This was not my intention and then the use of quotation marks to highlight certain remarks I had made on my posts was mistakenly taken by myself as an assumption that the poster was trying to make a sarcastic reply, for which I tried to explain when accused of going round in circles....

I’m generally amazed at the lo-balling of Andrew Tod’s ability by a number on here. I think he’s exceptionally talented and if managed properly could have a huge future. For example I compare him to a couple of Manchester United loanees both strikers of similar age Joe Hugill a striker currently at Barnet, 2 appearances and no goals, he played 16 times for bottom of the league Carlisle last season, scored twice. Ethan Wheatley who’s with Northampton Town 14 games he’s scored two goals Not dissimilar standard of clubs and neither ripping up trees. Either of them would cost c£1.5 to £3m if you wanted to sign them today. It’s no wonder AT is attracting attention he’s playing big boys football and hitting the net regularly he’s bound to be on the radar of big clubs.

Would a club like Brighton & Hove Albion be interested in a player like Andrew Tod Jr?

Absolutely.

I don`t think there is an argument to be had here. He wouldn`t be anywhere close to their first team at the moment, but clubs in the English Premier League have plenty of money to go around. They can have him in their Under 23 side for a couple of seasons and then out on loan. With improved training, conditioning, who knows what the young lad could turn into.

I remember seeing him play as a 17 year old, and thinking then "he`ll play for a Scotland". The last time I remember thinking that about a Pars player, it was the 18 year old Jackie McNamara. He went on to have a great career, and I would say Andrew has more potential

They better get the cheque book out! Club should demand a big transfer fee for our prized asset.

Am I correct in thinking that he`s a diehard Pars fan? If so then hopefully he signs a nice long contract so nobody can buy him on the cheap. Another couple of seasons at East End Park first though, giving him a chance to further improve and raise that transfer fee.

I’m not surprised by 3 things here.

1 an argument
2 who’s involved and claiming that they are somehow being misrepresented or they’re not allowed to blah blah blah 😂😂😂 every time 🤷🏻‍♂️

3 A Tod drawing attention from bigger clubs. He’s certainly talented. He needs a lot of work but he’s talented. Off the ball needs to improve a lot. I think a full season under Neil Lennon would do him a lot of good. Would be good for the club to keep him this and next season as I think his worth will grow.

Haven`t we signed both Tods up for another 2 or 3 years? I thought we had, if so then it can only be good for everyone.

Both have been fantastic, I thought Andrew would get a few games before going on loan for more experience ,but he`s blown that away. John, I think NL is managing him well, he`s a real player, but I think we`re doing well not to over expose him, again he`s an exciting prospect.

I hope Tod is with us for a while yet. For me he’s the most exciting prospect we’ve had since Faissel , whose career, I know, didn’t come to much, but he didn’t half light the place up for a year. After seasons of turgid, stale football it’s nice to have a player who’s genuinely exciting to watch and can both make and take chances.

Getting back on track but interesting seeing that list as only a couple of names there that you would class as strikers.

Clubs are bound to be interested in players who are able to score goals. At his age, and number of goals this season, playing 1st team football, he`s bound to attract attention
