*Speculative thread warning*
I`m quite keen on keeping track of all the grounds I`ve attended with Pars. I`ve downloaded footballgroundmap recently, and was thinking of potential away trips I`ve never been on before.
With Europe fairly unlikely for the next few years, and the SPFL deciding to drop the non-Scottish teams from the Challenge Cup, I wondered what folk considered their dream Scottish Cup tie to be.
I think mine would be Wick Academy, due to my Dad being a Caithness native, and the sheer length of journey making a decent excuse for a weekend away!
Does anyone else look forward to the Cup draws hoping for a decent away day?

Don’t we need to eliminate QotS first ?

So if we lose at the end of the month is that us out of all cup competitions forever?
Maybe try curbing your enthusiasm to have a go and reread the OP before jumping in next time.

Especially, given that Wick Academy have been knocked out of this season`s competition.

Yes, sorry, I should have been more specific and said this is not just related to this season, but future seasons also.

Looked clear enough to me the way you positioned it.
I quite fancy a trip to Forres or Nairn.

Anyone desperate for an away Scottish Cup trip could go and see the DAFC Women`s team playing at Thornton Hibs this afternoon (2pm ko)!

Wick away would be a very long trip and in my youth would have been great but not sure I could swing it with the family. Enjoyed Buckie and Elgin so another of that type would be good - Clach maybe, or Huntly - and I`ve not been to Galabank so from a selfish point of view, Annan would be great. Also never got the chance to go to Gretna or Bonnyrigg when they were in the league, so the completist in me would take those trips. Finally, one of the non-league Fife cluns would be mental. Hill of Beath, Crossgates, Burntisland Shipyard or whatever away would be amazing.

Did we not plan to play Wick Academy away in a friendly a couple of years back but it got cancelled last minute, unsure why.
I`m sure a few Pars fans had already booked so went up anyway.

The women`s team won 3-0 so there may be another attractive away tie in the next round.

I was looking forward to a big tie for the ladies. Would definitely go.
Edit: when is the draw?

I dont know why anyone would actually want to go to Wick. There is absolutely nothing there. Good chance of being put in a wicker man though.

It has always been Fraserburgh away for me, the place of my birth.

I remember when we had a chance of winning the Cup and fans` dream draw was the easiest possible team at home. Now fans seem to see it as a tourist opportunity. It`s sad really.

Not really. A great away day has always been something to look forward to. It is part of being a football fan. In every example mentioned, it would be both a new place to visit and a great chance to progress.
It is sad when someone wants Celtic or Rangers away in the 4th round, just because it will make the club some money.

The game away at elgin in 2013 will take some beating for me - a real throw back. We took a decent crowd that day and were all huddled in the covered terracing. Food stall just at the back and aroma of pies and bovril wafting around. Good game as well (5-3). Went with my older boy who had never witnessed anything other than all seater grounds - he still waxes lyrical about it. One of my heros ( winker Watson) was there too. Pi$$ing down as well. Just had a bit of everything you`d want. I always hope we draw Brechin away - handy for me and a cracking wee ground.

I also would like an away game at Brechin, 1985Par. Our 7-1 cup round win v the hedge in 2018 wasn’t just a grand day out but the good sense of humour by the tannoy chap was very much appreciated. When Brechin scored their only goal on the hour mark, he shouted “Game on!”
The ground staff and fellow fans were so friendly and I just liked going there. I now occasionally follow their progress in the highland league.

You’ll be able to follow Brechin more closely next season as, if they don’t get promotion to league 2, they’re joining the revamped lowland league east.

That’s all good but we will not have any chance of winning the cup anytime soon so it’s fine to wish an away day to some place obscure.
Some of my favourite trips were to the likes of Threave Rovers, Cove (before they were in the SPFL) and many others.
Nothing sad about it in our present predicament.

@Grok
"Dunfermline Athletic played a Scottish cup tie in 1986 away to non-league minnows Threave Rovers, Dunfermline won 5-0. Compose a poem in the style of William Topaz McGonagall of a Pars fan longing for a return to Castle Douglas by Dunfermline being drawn away to Threave in the Scottish Cup one more."
