 Ronaldo sent off.

Watching the Ireland vs Portugal game. Currently 2-0 Ireland and Ronaldo just sent off for a blatant elbow in the back of a player.
Very entertaining game I must say.

I dont think he thought anything. Its his attitude. His ego took over his thought process and he effectively made it all about him.

Ronaldo only cares about his own targets. He thought he’d maybe get more easy goals to add to his tally. It wasn’t going to plan so instead of inspiring his team, he goes and gets himself sent off because HE wasn’t getting what HE wanted. I wonder if some of his team mates secretly can’t wait til he calls it a day. Look what happened to Spain when they ditched their so-called big players who had way too much influence.

Or maybe he swung his arm trying to get out of yet another shirt grab by the Irish.

Noted that there was no action by the ref against the constant shirt pulling.
Irish defender went down as if he’d been shot.

Not defending the elbow - but there always two sides to a story - unlike the gleeful squealing in some of the posts above, deriding one of the greatest players who ever lived.

There’s no way that the elbow was just trying to shrug the player off.

Don’t quite see the point you’re trying to make, it’s a pathetic attempt at trying to defend someone who has over and over shown he’s a delusional egotistical fud.

Delusional egotistical fud - yeah, whatever.

Arguably greatest player ever, top 5 ever definitely.

The point I’m ’trying to make’ is that there was no punishment for the continual wrestling and shirt pulling, with the usual Irish muppets cheering the ‘cleverness’ of one of their players cheating enough to get an opponent sent off - bravo

The BBC Sport site seems to be running a few articles this week about ideas to improve football.

The thing that immediately came to mind was doing something to eliminate shirt pulling.

Not for a minute suggesting our players are entirely innocent of it but it happening to ours frustrates the life out of me.

It may just feel like an issue right now after the recent tug on Kane`s shirt (that should have been a penalty) or O`Reilly trying to strip Caceres` (right before the headbutt)!

He definitely is in the top 5 ever.

Doesn’t mean he shouldn’t be called out when he’s acting like a petulant child on the pitch, which he does quite often.
