I was hoping that all four home nations might make it to the World Cup but today`s draw has scuppered that.
Northern Ireland to take on Italy in the semi final, and the winner of that tie to take on the winner of the semi including Wales in the final.
Tough route for Ireland as well.....
Wales or Bosnia and Herzegovina v Italy or Northern Ireland
Ukraine or Sweden v Poland or Albania
Slovakia or Kosovo v Turkey or Romania
Republic of Ireland or Czechia v Denmark or North Macedonia

I fully expect Wales to qualify - they are very strong at home, I`d even back them v Italy, who are very flaky.

I totally forgot this draw for the also-rans was on today.
It`s difficult to fancy Italy, given their recent record in play-offs and the absolute dread that the country has for them now. However, I am not 100% convinced it will be Wales v Italy in the final.
Path 2 is very difficult to call, especially given that Sweden have been absolutely terrible but have sacked their manager, have a bit of talent and nearly 4 months of runway for the likes of Isak and Kulusevski to get fit and firing.
Possibly Turkey and Czechia from Path 3 and 4.

I`m perhaps not the most unbiased poster to comment on Italy`s chances and I`m certainly not overconfident, but I can see them squeaking through, maybe even with a bit of help from a benign ref or VAR. Ironically, if they get past Norn Irn, they might have a better chance of going through with an away tie in the final as the pressure from a frantic home crowd might work against the team.
As for the other qualifiers, my money`s on Denmark, Turkey and Poland.
Not your average Sunday League player.
