Players out of contract in summer 2026.
Topic Originator: Ahoy!Ahoy!
Date:   Wed 17 Dec 10:26

According to Trnsfrmrkt these players are out of contract next summer and can sign Pre Contracts as of January.

Billy Terrell
Deniz Mehmet
Kieran Ngwenya
Kyle Benedictus
Jeremiah Chilokoa-Mullen
John Tod
Sam Fisher
Ewan Otoo
Chris Hamilton
Tashan Oakley-Boothe
Matty Todd
Kane Ritchie-Hosler
Josh Cooper
Chris Kane

I think we need to get Terrell and J. Tod signed up to new deals as they have shown more than enough to become big players for us.

Mullen will probably be signing a PCA in January I would assume.

Apart from that I’d be more than happy to see the rest leave in the summer.

Thought John Tod signed a new deal in the summer? Or am I a year behind? 😂

Terrell and JCM we should offer deals to (but doubt JCM would sign). Hamilton and Todd maybe as cover IF they can keep their performance levels up.

The rest not fussed about at all.

I thoughtCooper signed a 3yr deal at the start of the season did he not?

If as is more than likely we have another season in the championship next year 😁 then a case can be made for keeping Hammy and Matty.

Cooper definitely signed a long -term deal, KP, and I thought JT signed an extension with his brother who was later given a further extension.

Y, Cooper I think was 3 years, I believe similair for the Tods.

Sadly I think JCM will be away at the end of the season, Matty Todd has played his way back into the team, Hammy makes a good captian, Terrell would be good, not sure about Ewan Otoo, but the others I guess get released, free up space unless they fire on like Matty Todd did.

Sam Young
Alasdair Davidson (1yr option)
Taylor Sutherland

can add to the list for first team.

Hoggan, Beveridge, E.McLeod, Rowe from the "reserves".

Ewan McLeod seemed to be doing really well on loan at East Fife. Plenty assists. Assume he got injured?

I’m like others, I think it’s time to cut our loses with the list. I think it’s important that every effort is made to keep Terrell and JCM (J.Tod has already signed an extension, as has been mentioned). If Hamilton & Todd keep up their levels of performance, then they should be rewarded with contract extensions. The rest have had opportunities and had proven to be ineffective or on the downward spiral.

Feel sorry for Chris Kane, who is still the best striker at the club (imho) but can. Not stay fit and we can’t keep going on as we are, especially if he is one of the lightest earners, which you expect he is.

I suspect the following are goners:

Deniz Mehmet - Slipped down the pecking order
Kieran Ngwenya - Still to prove himself
Kyle Benedictus - Great leader but getting on
Tashan Oakley-Boothe - Still tomorrow himself
Kane Ritchie-Hosler - Will come good but apparently a high earner
Chris Kane - Need someone who can play week in/week out.

McLeod got injured a few weeks ago, there was an East Fife fan on pie and bovril the other day saying he was out for the rest of the season, no idea if thats true though.

Y, I feel sorry for Kane too, he has done brilliantly for us, but we can`t really keep players that have long term injuries I feel.

He carried us for sure, and still will come up with the goods, but we need replacements.

I second the comments, we need to cut our losses with these players, both for the teams sake, and the players sake- they need to get on with their career and find the right level. For us, I`m pretty sure we won`t be holding on to many players like we did in the past hoping they would come good eventually.

John Tod deserves a new deal, great start to the season but has tailed off as the season has gone out, been a massive step up for him though but he’s young and plenty room for improvement.

The rest of that list (mullan aside assume he’ll leave on a free) all represent what to me is a failure to be good enough to take us any further. The more we keep the more likely to be a middle table team at best.

We have a good first 11 now but we need a better squad. Let them all go and let’s continue the rebuild. It’s time to move on and in particular with Otoo and KRH who were great in league one but haven’t been able to cut it top half championship level and show no signs of improvement.

Interesting Jeffy not on this list, did we sign him for a longer period of time? I know it’s his first season and need time to settle but we’re had nothing from him for months, massive disappointment so far.

The post below replying to me is by one of .nets finest champions of mediocrity!

Billy Terrell - keep
Deniz Mehmet - gone
Kieran Ngwenya - gone
Kyle Benedictus - We need experience at the back, depends how he does from now till the end of the season. 50/50?
Jeremiah Chilokoa-Mullen - would like to keep but the fact that he only signed on for 1 year last time makes me think he`s got his sights on a move to a bigger team
John Tod - keep
Sam Fisher - gone
Ewan Otoo - think he will be gone, Lenny doesn`t seem to rate him at all
Chris Hamilton - keep for another year?
Tashan Oakley-Boothe - time up, I think
Matty Todd - keep. He`s done great with the minutes he`s had in midfield and covered well at RWB too
Kane Ritchie-Hosler - there`s a player there but our system doesn`t suit him. 50/50
Josh Cooper - kept
Chris Kane - would love to keep but with his injuries maybe we can`t rely on him... maybe on reduced wages?

Would keep Mehmet as backup. Think he has done well when called for and an old head being around for Terrell is clearly helping him.

I would a hundred percent not offer Mehmet a new deal.

One of the biggest earners in the squad and he’s obviously not good enough. His saved wages can get us a new keeper alone.

You say that but he has not done much wrong in the games he has played in recently.

Based on the list posted by the OP

Billy Terrell
Deniz Mehmet
Kieran Ngwenya
Kyle Benedictus
Jeremiah Chilokoa-Mullen
John Tod
Sam Fisher
Ewan Otoo
Chris Hamilton
Tashan Oakley-Boothe
Matty Todd
Kane Ritchie-Hosler
Josh Cooper
Chris Kane

The only one I`d be especially anxious about keeping would be John Tod. Terrell also looks worth another deal as does Chikoloa-Mullen, but I wouldn`t be breaking the bank to keep either. Chikoloa-Mullen in particular hasn`t exactly set the heather alight this season, but it looks like their could be a player there.

We really need to get rid of players that are average at this level and get good, experienced players that can bring the talented younger players along with us.

If you get rid of eleven average players from the wage bill and get 5 or 6 better players in, and have younger lads filling the gaps, that would be better. As much as I like Hamilton, Otoo and Todd, we need better players if we are going to progress

Redstart, pretty much my thoughts.

The three you mention owe us nothing, in particular Hammy and Otoo when we had brutal injuries, they played anywhere in the team , sometimes put of position.

In my opinion, Otoo in particular stalked because of his versatility, we were so short everywhere, Otoo had to fill in. For his own sake, he probably needs a decent move- this is a player I like a lot, but this season has had some ropey games.

I don`t see us hanging on to players that havent progressed, the younger ones are hungry, but we need a few more ( not toxic) experienced players.

I`m still happy where we are.

I agree regarding Otoo, when we needed him, he really put his body on the line for us. When we had that injury crisis, he would play any where, when he was carrying injuries, always did his best.

I think his versatility worked against him, he could be centre back, left back, in midfield, in one game he was switched about and did all three. That can`t be ideal for a young player. I still think he`s a good player and could be a good player for us, but he needs to find his best position

Tbh I would say a player like Otto would be great for any team that plays in a number of positions…the thing is he’s not good in these positions when played..
He’s definitely more defensive but needs to find a man when attacking

I think Euan Otoo has lost his way a little this season. That`s not to say he won`t do a job for us. I think he needs to find a position that suits him best and make it his own. He is capable of scoring goals-not something our midfield seems to be capable of at the moment. For sure, players will be leaving as they have probably run their course at the club and see their future elsewhere.

It`s tough because I more or less like most of these players. I`d keep Matty Todd and Chris Hamilton. John Tod was extended through 2027 and there`s no way we`d let him go without a fee.

Chris Kane has been a good player for us but he`s perennially unavailable (in spite of his clear talent) so I don`t know it`s worth keeping a player who our manager says isn`t able to complete 90 minutes.

Benedictus has been good for us but his age, injuries and this recent court case point to it being time to move on. Whether he`s unlucky in that circumstance or not I don`t like the idea that our club captain is out in nightclubs getting in fights in his mid 30`s.
