Sat 3 pm TV ban on way out?

It looks like the top English clubs are ready to sell the only part of their bodies they have left to TV.

I can`t see this ending well...

Not your average Sunday League player.

GG will be old enough to mind the Middle Ages when the SFA wouldn`t allow big games shown live on TV in case it affected crowds at the likes of Stirlingshire Cup ties between East Stirling and Stenhousemuir.

I`m surprised companies are making any money from showing live football anymore. How many millions a year does the English Premier cost? Don`t you also need multiple subs to different outlets too? I don`t think I know anyone who legitimately pays for the likes of Sky Sports anymore.

There used to be a bit of a novelty of getting games on the TV at home but not so much anymore.

Saying that, I`d wholly support ParsTV being available to UK viewera who can`t get along to games for whatever reason.

Me!
I pay Sky Sports, TNT Sports, Premier Sports and have Prime.

But yes, vast majority of folks out here gave up on Sky and went for the pirated IPTV.
Can’t really blame them, after Sky switching off thousands of accounts on the last day of the season two years ago.
Pain in the bahookie being anywhere from 30 to 90 seconds behind live tho…
Getting goal updates on phone and betting app before seeing it on tv spoils it a bit.

Only positive for us is that they may have to pay the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Irish leagues some compensation given the blackout is UK wide. But if it goes up here too I can see the lower leagues and non leagues really suffering up here if Rangers and Celtic games can be shown legitimately on TV. Plenty older guys who won`t be faffing about with IPTV and Dodgy boxes etc but would happily watch their games in the pub or at home.

don`t hold your breath .o)

twice over last two season EPL have talked about streaming live on a Saturday, they had it setup for the first month but then cancelled it before the first day kick off.

England have more days unblocked than Scotland.

Saturday the 27th December is supposed to be a non-block day where PPV allowed in UK.
message received from the SPFL yesterday !!
The SPFL have been in touch (via Queens Park) to say that though Saturday is an unblocked day, clubs can’t offer PPV for 3pm games as it clashes with a live SPFL Sky broadcast.

https://scottishfootball.online/streaming-dates-saturday-blocked

Scotland has 4 more days blocked than England. no idea why that is !

I have no idea what the powers-to-be have about any of this, I think their heads are buried in the sand.

Since Covid, it has been proved that people want to attend live matches, streaming the games is a great help to many people who can`t attend in person.

The block-period is a great revenue loss to the clubs but provides revenue for VPN companies and pirate streaming companies, far more in Scotland with this bet365 "deal on the go".

Sites like IPTV and Fawanews are so easily available and provide good streams that it kind of negates PPV TV. Then you have fire sticks.

These things are very hard to charge the viewer for watching, just the hackers for streaming, so cant see them going anywhere any time soon.

Can`t understand why one Scottish game at a different level being broadcast would prevent streaming of others.

ask the beaks at the SPFL.

very weird situation to be in, told it was a PPV day at start (weel actually 10 days in) of season, and 2 days match before SPFL send out notification that it`s not.
