From the Record -
Montrose are closing in on a deal to sign Taylor Sutherland from Dunfermline Athletic. The Gable Endies are close to an agreement that will see him move to Angus for the rest of the season.
It is a blow to Clyde as the striker has been on-loan there for the first half of the season. He has now been recalled from the Bully Wee.
The 20-year-old is keen to move up a level and will get that opportunity with Montrose. Sutherland is out of contract at East End Park in the summer and is keen to put himself in the shop window.

As much as I wanted Taylor to succeed at East End I feel like a move away will do him good.
He never set the heather on fire at any club he’s been on loan too and think if we plan on moving up the leagues we are going to need better.

Could be a good move for him. If he does well, Montrose will be keen to sign him on a permanent contract, and the Pars may be tempted to offer him a new deal.
He`s not really had many first team opportunities at EEP to showcase his talents. He`s a good player and a smashing lad. I hope he smashes it at Montrose.
Not your average Sunday League player.

Good to hear the loanees moving up.
I suppose this may suit travel wise with one brother at Montrose and the other at Forfar.

I hope it works out for him. I wouldn’t offer him a deal to stay at EEP, though as he’s not really at the required standard, and while he’s still young enough, I just can’t see him making the grade as a Championship level striker. That said, I wish him all the best.
This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

hopefully a "first refusal" type clause in the deal to protect us should he significantly kick on.

Am surprised that Montrose aren’t after Jake instead, given that he has three goals in his last four for Forfar and a goal every 159 minutes overall in L2, matching his excellent almost ‘Barneyesque’ strike rate in the LL for Cowden last season. Would be good to see if he is ready yet to step up another rung of the ladder to L1.

Not everyone assesses players based simply on statistics. Maybe Stewart Petrie sees something in Taylor that suits the way he wants his team to play or thinks he can improve some aspects of his game.

Good move for him, gives him a chance to play at a higher level, and if he does well, gives him more options.
These guys find their level, then hopefully kick on their career. They are still pretty young.
