Hi all. I was under the impression that there was no VAR at the game yesterday, but if you watch the highlights progamme hosted by Dougie Donnelly, the pundits said they are glad VAR didn`t award a penalty for the JCM handball incident? Surely that can`t be right?

That was just Craigen making a mistake.

Yeah i did wonder. And, having checked it back, he mentioned VAR in the context of our goal, not the JCM handball.

There was definitely no VAR as they only use it if the club has it installed. EEP doesn`t. I`d imagine only St Johnstone and Ross County have it.

I think the context was he was glad VAR was not there to make the decision.

It definitely wasn`t. He said he was glad that VAR cleared the goal so quickly, which obviously wasn`t the case.

Wasn`t much of a case for the handball and goal was pretty straight forward, despite the Hib`s keeper protestations!
He seemed to moan about everything.

Yeah, I misread the OP, I though he meant the after-game commentary.
I watched the highlights package, Craigan said that about our goal, "glad it was cleared so quickly", yeah they mistakenly thought VAR was there.

Interestingly. I saw a stat somewhere that the majority of teams who had VAR, chose not to use it this weekend (as it’s not mandatory in the Scottish Cup until the semi’s). Clubs voting with heir feet?

Celtic just had a goal overturned by VAR.
No tears for them whatsoever but how can you run a competition where some games have it whilst others don`t?

Should’ve been like FA Cup where it wasn’t in their last round due to so many teams not having it.

Might seem unfair but it’s purely down to grounds that already have it installed.

Both teams need to agree to have it. Otherwise it’s not in use. It’s mad some games have and some don’t.

TV games for home Premiership games had to have it. They were the only ties this round that did.
