Match attendance of 1,564 according to BBC. What a sad state of affairs that is.

How on Earth are clubs like Livi surviving on that? Average it out to £20 a ticket and they`re barely getting £30k and for that they need to be paying wages, flood lights, technical staff, stewarding, cleaners...

Clearly their business model works for them.
They spent a long time in the Premier League and then came back up after relegation.
Spending within their means.

Shows the benefits of being in the Premier!

I`d have thought that by now Livi would have attracted more fans through the doors but it must be hard in a town full of people who are descendants of Edinburgh/Glasgow people.

Makes you realise how lucky the Pars are to have such a strong core support.

Livi were transplanted there from Edinburgh where they had a very low fan base.

Hardly a surprise they haven’t developed a decent support.

I actually think their support has got smaller though out time 🤔

I think you’re right. I remember going there when Leish was manager and they had a healthy attendance in the main stand, behind the goals and around to the half way line.

Not sure if it was all freebies to schools or whatever, but definitely my first few trips there to see us, there were more home supporters than now

I never actually went to Livi back then but I do remember them bringing more support than they did when we had them at EEP last season 🤷🏻‍♂️

They genuinely did have some great players and teams. I mind Leigh Griffiths scoring a great individual goal at the Cowden end.

Or David Fernandez and that Spanish midfielder… can’t remember his name but it was a proper coup for Livi to get him.

They’d kick the F out of the bushes, damage the fence then punt the ball through the neighbours window. Martindale would be screaming for more until full time when he’d talk through his nose about no having the finances to pay for the window.

That’s why I am really proud of our support, really loyal, considering the hardships we have had. It’s always a rollercoaster, but that’s the attraction!

Generational!

My wee man is a par, I’m a par, my dad is a par, my grandad was a par and my great grandad was a Crossgates Primrose fan 🤷🏻‍♂️ he must have been there from the start with them.

For clubs like Livi and ourselves to survive and organically grow a fan base you need to be community driven. Perhaps that’s where Livi are making no impact?

They are very active in the community but when your dad supports Rangers/Celtic/Hibs/Hearts then its natural to follow. It won`t change for years regardless of how active you are in the community. People will go to a game for free then go to X ground the next week.

Season tickets are up from last year. The style of play has changed drastically from boom ball to a striker which may be part of the downfall. Definitely not the team they were before with big bruises all over the pitch.

3 midfielders last night - Tait 5`6, Susoho 5`7 and Arfield 5`9. Not exactly towering.

The majority of games are £26 which in the current climate isn`t outrageous

I see David Martindale wasn`t happy with Saints` equaliser, claiming that the scorer, Gogic, fouled his marker. His anger was mainly directed at the VAR officials but he also criticised the overall standard of refereeing and suggested they needed to go full-time to improve. I noticed the ref last night was NL`s old pal, Duncan Nicolson.

I’m sure Livi make a good amount of money renting out their office space etc?

I completely get the "follow in your father`s footsteps" thing re the Glasgow and Edinburgh teams, but what are Falkirk doing right that Livingston aren`t?
Livingston relocated in 1995, 30 years ago. They`ve spent more time in the top flight, and had greater cup runs, than Falkirk.
Geographically, they both lie between the Big 2.
Population wise, Livingston has 20000 more residents than Falkirk.
Yet week in, week out Falkirk outnumber Livi crowds by far, both home and away, and have a much more community spirit.
How have Livingston not managed to embed themselves in the town in 30 years?

Change and marketing is often about how you make people feel, not just the cold hard facts like population size.

Having a club plonked in a town is bound to be a big challenge, particularly if football fans there are already tied to other clubs given how easy it is to get elsewhere from Livingston.

I would imagine even getting kids more engaged when at school is a challenge as there`s no history to link them with.

Difference between Falkirk and Livingston is Falkirk FC is older than the Livingston the town (I`m excluding Livingston village). As we know, Falkirk people keep it in the family whereas in Livingston it`s made up primarily of people who moved from Edinburgh and Glasgow. Much harder to foster pride and support for your local club when it`s barely 30 years old in a post-war new town.

Saying that, given the relative success of Livingston I`m surprised they don`t get more people along. Even some that support Rangers, Celtic, Hibs or Hearts but have them as a second team.

Fernandez was a brilliant player to watch, really clever off the ball as well. Ruined by an absolutely shocking tackle from Gary Caldwell.

Guess it`s not that easy to build a following but agree the fact they`ve been in the top league for the majority of the recent future plus some cup success, you`d think they could have tagged on a few more fans - especially younger lads who`s parents maybe support the OF on the tv only.

ICT is another example - really should have a huge following but the politics of how they came about scuppered it from day 1 and proved, even at a lower level, mergers of clubs are not the answer.

Our club might be lower for now but we`ll have our day again, hopefully soon 🏁😎👍🏼

I was also thinking the away support must have been pretty poor as well, especially given that there is not a huge distance between paisley and livingston
