A famous match but i have what is a seemingly simply question I cannot find the answer to.
Perhaps the hive mind of .net knows.
Celtic wore the green and white hoops...what colour did Dunfermline wear?
Every search says "the traditional black and white stripes" but the black and white
photographs of the day have us in a single block colour.
Anyone know? Anyone there?

Almost identical to the Chelsea kit of that era.
Absolutely not the traditional black and white strip.
Incidentally, the cup final top worn on the Saturday was a variation on the usual jersey with a black pin stripe down the centre - the replica version sold by Toffs a few years ago was inaccurate.
They did not respond to being corrected !!!

Not 100% sure, Salton, but was it not all green with white shorts! There`s a famous pic of Roy Barry and John Lunn both tackling wee Jinky. I believe Roy has it on his mantle piece.

Celtic wore their traditional green and white hoops. In those days in Scotland if there was a potential colour clash the home team wore their change strip.

For the end of season Cup winners v Champions elect at EEP on 30/04/1968 Celtic wore their regular hoops.
There is a photo of Roy Barry and Billy McNeill coming down the steps from the dressing rooms messing around jostling the trophy between.
Bertie Auld didn`t feature that night - maybe Big Jock was playing it safe, mindful of the Jim Fraser incident.
Celtic wore ALL green at Parkhead in the earlier 3rd round tie, 27/01/1968, the Pars in their usual kit.

A significant contributory factor in the Ibrox Disaster was the hugh embankment behind the goal and the very steep steps leading to the exits. No doubt you`ll remember that many Rangers fans had left or were leaving when they heard the roar celebrating Rangers` last minute equaliser. As they rushed back up the steep stairs, the ref blew for full time and those who had waited until the end rushed towards the exits. Result - utter carnage.
The EEP exits were relatively flat in 1968. I didn`t get to the stadium until about 5 mins before kick off, by which time the turnstiles were closed. A group of Celtic fans pushed down one of the big exit doors and we all rushed in. There were fans all around the track, on the roof of the North Stand, up the pylons and even the roofs of the kiosks at the Cowden end. I believe a 67 year old Celtic fan attending his first ever live game was the only fatality.
Not your average Sunday League player.

Allegedly !!!
A Celtic fan I knew gave us a welcoming 2 finger Churchill salute as we arrived at kick off - later I returned the compliment as we made for the exits - immediately followed with the wholly appropriate finger and thumb zero sign.
His face was a joyful wonder to behold......... with thanks to Shug Robertson and Pat Gardner for providing that pleasure.
