Thoughts on Morrison? Runs about a lot but so can many of us. Even with one leg and a pars badge tattooed to my chest over my heart I’d run about a lot. Appreciate his runs may be sharper, more considered and infinitely quicker, tho atm we have exactly the same output. Is it the style of play, the formation, the player, the timing of joining, length of contract or something else. Appreciate it sounds like a dig, but in reality on paper as an older fan he should be exactly the style and attitude of player we should appreciate to make a difference. Just not seeing it in motion. Not singling him out, could rant about most after the past 6 months, I’m only asking a question about Callum, there’s bigger issues in the team

No need, clearly asking for alternative views. If only this was a forum for discussion

Change the title and you`ll get a discussion.

Leave it and you`ll get called out for being a moron

Maybe it`s a bigger picture parsparspars
Maybe Callum has been told how to play in a system , maybe not playing in his best position either , but apart from the Hibs game it`s not easy to come into a team that gifts goals every week , from there you are up against it , so in that scenario where you would normally take someone on it`s on your mind that if you give the ball away it could end up being a goal at our end , so many if`s and but`s I will give hime a game or two yet to get up to sharpness as I think he will come good , And i do not think your title is correct he is a Pars player

Don’t agree with the falkirk rat, he’s our player now and we were all happy with Barney.

My biggest problem with him is he seems to be all workrate but not a lot else. Perhaps brought in to cover Tod’s lack of workrate?

Not clear what position we have brought him to play, we don’t play with wingers usually but he doesn’t seem to have the speed or trickery to get beyond his man. He’s not a striker.

The post below replying to me is by one of .nets finest champions of mediocrity!

Ok fair enough, title changed, and yes he is being asked to play a role, so not his issue as such, tactics, formations etc Al that was original question about how to get best out of him and others, as stated he isn’t biggest issue by far, or any individual tbf

Also like many of our players Morrison made his name by having a great couple of seasons in league 1, and as we know even the best league 1 players can struggle at this level due to the pace and physical nature of this league.

Hard to tell how good a level Linfield play at but they were winning that league before they went full time in 2021 which perhaps tells you it might not be far off league 1 or lower championship level at best.

He’s 26 and has scored 4 goals at championship level or better. Left Falkirk under a cloud and didn’t last a year into a 2.5 year deal at Linfield where he was hardly ripping it up.

So given the above it does make you question the logic of paying a fee and a 2.5 year deal to a player who isn’t proven at this level, has likely reached his potential and who will be considered one of our experienced players to lead the youngsters.

Was this based on the data or a player Lenny just fancied I don’t know. Lenny will need him to start producing something soon.

Indeed. So using data, opinion, or combined is fine though where does this collectively translate to team style and formation as arguably Morrison thrived in a more direct passing style rather than those more conservative passive controlled style we employ, with the added consideration of levels. This iznt just Morrison this is all players and about recruitment strategy as well as who dictates preferred playing style and identity. Is it the football management or owner level with a longer term view.

He had a few decent crosses and he has a first touch unlike the rest of our frontline.

In response to parsparspars, Sat 21 Feb 17:49 & 18:23

Would there have been something wrong with the title `Callumn Morrison` ?

You`re trying to be humorous, but are just disrespectful. Quote: ``Runs about a lot but so can many of us. Even with one leg and a pars badge tattooed to my chest over my heart I’d run about a lot. Instead of making glaikit comments and coming across like a pis*ed nyaff, why not give more thought to those `bigger issues in the team` you refer to?
