Did I read right that we’ve loaned him back to them on an emergency loan and that he will be back?

Farcical rule to allow players out on loan to go back to their club outside of a transfer window. Whats the point in the window if they can just recall them when a player gets injured? Do Motherwell only have 3 keepers on their entire squad books?
If he doesn’t start game will be a bigger mockery. Our biggest league game of season could be derailed by him not being there.

Doubt he will be playing, its their sub keeper that`s injured. Shame for him, sure he would rather stay here playing games. Hopefully only for a week or so.

Recalls from any loans are standard practice and quite common. The signing wasn`t an emergency loan from what I see on COWS so this was probably built into the deal. Motherwell have put the following comms out:
Connelly suffered the injury during a training session this week.
As a result, we have exercised the option to emergency recall Oxborough from his loan spell at Dunfermline.
Emergency loans/recalls are usually on for 7 days. So more than likely a recall option was in the original deal.

^^ he wouldnt be able to come back to us if it was a recall as its outside the window. this is an emergency recall which basically gets updated weekly.
there would need to be a keeper good enough and available which i doubt there is if we did "qualify" but i dont think we do.
the clubs will know how long it might be for, hopefully we can get through the next two games assuming the Airdrie game gets moved too and he returns at the start of April. no idea if the club looked at whatever free agents were out there before signing Oxborough but if this is going to be 5-6 weeks, they have to look at alternatives.

Some amount of overreaction here and on social media.
We were very fortunate and thankful to Motherwell for releasing him on loan but he is not our player and as a specialised position, there was always a chance he would be recalled if they got an injury.
It’s not the end of the world.
Billy or Deniz are still competent keepers who just happened to use their howlers in one afternoon.
I’m quite happy to use either of them until Oxborough comes back in,

Less than a month ago Billy signed a 2 year contract extension. He`s young, made a mistake and got injured. He will get his chance again on Saturday and hopefully will get the full backing. Lennon has done a good job this year dropping players when they are not up to standard and opening the door to allow them back in to stake a claim for their place.

Terrell is a good keeper in my opinion and although he had a couple of mistakes, he is very good at coming out for balls and punches well, as well as sweeping. I think he will be good for us long term. Have no qualms about him playing on Saturday. I am less happy with Deniz who will surely be gone at the end of the season. I’ve been disappointed in Terrell, I think he’s let in a few soft goals this season you’d really be wanting your keeper to stop. The one he let in away at Partick for example. That was before the madness at Arbroath. He may well improve in the long term, we can certainly hope so.
Hope the Ox is back soon.

Neil also addressed the temporary loss of on-loan goalkeeper Aston Oxborough (pictured below), who has returned to parent club Motherwell due to a clause in his loan agreement:-
“It’s part of the clause in the contract. Motherwell are good enough to help us out and obviously they’ve got a problem and he has to go back. We’re hoping it won’t be a long-term thing and we can get him back for the upcoming games. But if it’s not, we’ll go with what we’ve got.”

Absolutely this. We`ve seen this week how unforgiving football can be when a keeper makes a mistake - not just Kinski`s miskicks but also Donnaruma`s charging out of goal and mistiming his run.
According to Wiki, Kinski cost Spurs £12.5 million, Donnaruma cost City £26m, each of them worth more than our whole club. And yet Mehmet and Terrell got dog`s abuse for their mistakes. Some fans need a reality check.

Berry, you`re one of the more sensible posters on here, so I`m assuming that was very tongue in cheek. Mehmet has the odd howler in him but he`s also shown he can be a decent keeper. We won away to Raith and St Johnstone and the cuptie v Hibs with Deniz in goal. One goal conceded in 270 mins and some excellent stops doesn`t equate to the kind of goalkeeper you describe.

I don`t understand the talk about Oxborough coming back to us, possibly after next week. We were able to get him on an emergency loan because we only had one fit goalkeeper. Now that Terrell and Mehmet are both available, we surely don`t meet the emergency loan criteria?

I don’t think he was signed as an emergency loan. Dunfermline signed goalkeeper Aston Oxborough on loan from Motherwell for the remainder of the season, although a clause in the deal allowed him to return if Motherwell met the emergency loan criteria.

Oxborough wasn’t an emergency loan, it was an emergency recall by Motherwell.
My comments on Mehmet were a little tongue in cheek, although I’m not a fan. He doesn’t provide confidence for the back line, poor at corners in commanding his box and he is prone to howlers.
If I were Raith, and seen Mehmet was in goals, I’d have a few pops at range knowing he’s got that in him.
Terrell was in, distribution was good, didn’t really have a save to make that I recall but did well with the pass backs, slowing down the play at right times.
Still think he has work to do to convince Lennon of a regular slot again, think Ox will be back in if he comes back next week.

Did anyone think Terrell is still injured. At the end of the game he sat on his haunches for a while then after giving the young lad his gloves at the end of the game he looked as if he was limping. I hope not as he played a steady game today and would be good to see him ready for the semi final.

Dare I say it, Terrell seems a bit `injury prone`. I remember he had to be subbed at half-time at Airdrie earlier in the season then there was the injury he picked up at Arbroath and now this. I wonder if they`re all related?

Or he might have been feeling a slight knock. Morrison was stretching his groin in the closing stages of the first half and was speaking to the physio as he went down the tunnel. He seemed to get over it before the teams reappeared. We’ll find out when Lennon speaks on Thursday.

I really dislike that term, wee Eck. It was used to describe the likes of Marco van Basten and Trevor Francis. They received a lot of kicks throughout their careers, so it`s no wonder.
Let`s just say Terrell`s been unlucky with injuries this season and that he`s hopefully used up all that bad luck. 🙏

It`s possible Terrell`s injury after Arbroath was a diplomatic one. In the post-match interview, Lennon said he didn`t know if his goalie`s injury was to his leg or his pride. The manager may have decided after that game that he couldn`t rely on either Terrell or Mehmet, so he brought in Oxborough.

I don`t like it either, GGR. That`s why I put it in quotation marks, but it would be interesting to know if his injuries are related,
It`s possible Terrell`s injury after Arbroath was a diplomatic one. In the post-match interview, Lennon said he didn`t know if his goalie`s injury was to his leg or his pride. The manager may have decided after that game that he couldn`t rely on either Terrell or Mehmet, so he brought in Oxborough.
Perhaps a bit of both GG. I thought he was assured on Saturday. Sometimes its not about how you go down, but how you get up again.
Absolutely, Indiapar. Terrell did just fine. He`s still young and relatively inexperienced for a goalkeeper. He`s going to make the odd mistake, but he`ll learn from them. It`s not his fault that Raith didn`t test him enough on Saturday. I think Lennon`s post-match comments after Arbroath were down to frustration at how both goalkeepers managed to have a bad day.

I agree. Lennon knew how important that game was at the time and let his frustration out.

Probably bourne out of frustration of two seperate goalkeepers in tge same game making a mistake. Maybe just one of those things. We are all human at tge end of tge day and all make mistakes. Thankfully the mistakes I make dont have 5000 people watching. Dread to think...

From COWS -
The club can confirm that goalkeeper Aston Oxborough has returned to KDM Group East End Park.
The on loan Steelman returns, having been emergency recalled by Motherwell to feature in their matchday squad for their recent match with Celtic, following an injury within their goalkeeping department.
Welcome back, Aston.

Will Aston walk straight back into the starting XI at Dingwall? I`m only asking because Billy didn`t put a foot wrong last week.

It will be a shame but expect he probably will be replaced GG.
Billy Terrell didn`t look to be moving comfortably at the end so it could be enforced anyway.

Personally, I would stick with Terrell. I think he is better at coming for crosses, punching and great with his feet, and he is our player. Has made a couple of mistakes but he will get better with experience.

Lennon has all but confirmed Ox will be back in.
With Billy Terrell having kept a clean sheet in Aston Oxborough’s absence, Neil Lennon faces a pleasant selection dilemma ahead of Saturday’s away trip to Ross County, though he made clear where his preference lies. “Yeah, but you’d have to thank Aston. He’s not done anything wrong, really. So he will be in contention to start, putting it that way.”
