Wasn`t sure if this was for the politics forum or not, however it is a football topic.
Clacks Council (effectively under SNP control) now the 17th local authority to dismiss the proposal for a Bank Holiday on 15th June to mark Scotland qualifying for WC finals this summer.
A unanimous vote - hardly a difficult decision when councillors were advised it would cost almost an extra £60,000 to keep essential education services open.
Only Aberdeen, Glasgow, Dundee and South Lanarkshire have so far approved a day off.
Cue Douglas Ross raising this in Hoyrood and asking John Swinney if he now thinks the proposal was justified in light of the high level of rejections ?

Perthshire council estimates it will be £1.5 M , Clacks is Scotland`s smallest, but it`s a lot more than 60k No mention of the parents who will have to take unpaid day off. At least someone is grasping reality.

The near £60 grand figure came from Clacks Council head of HR.
As you say, common sense and reality prevails.

Good. Why should public service workers get a day off when us private sector workers have to use holidays for it? 🤷🏻♂️ its not even the day after the game either 😂

Good, can’t believe the SNP actually tried to do it in the first place.
