 World Cup travel costs

I heard a report on the radio that a round-trip train ticket between Boston and Foxborough, where the Gillette Stadium is, will be 80 dollars during the WC compared with the normal fare of 20 dollars! There seemed to be no reason for the increase other than blatant profiteering. Car parking fees seemed to be equally exorbitant.

Ive seen the same reports over this side of the pond wee_eck

I live in Atlanta and the MARTA system here is getting an upgrade for WC and likely charging $25 when the price is usually $5 - Its a total disgrace

Everything doubles or triples in cities where the games are. The same happened in Germany.

What you do is stay outwith the main city.

We will be in Salem. And others are elsewhere.

There was at least free matchday transport in Germany.

Never felt ripped off at any point during the Euros.

This time it`s fleece, fleece, fleece fans at every turn, then times it by 10 😡

COME ON YE PARS!

Staying in Medford and getting a pre-booked Uber into Boston city centre for about $20 per person return.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

Make sure you leave in plenty time. Apparently can take Upto 4 hours in game day.

Staying near Providence RI. It’s actually closer to Foxboro.

Paid £30 for unlimited travel on regional trains/trams for the whole week in Germany, and the ICE trains were booked in advance at fairly decent prices, and if your booked one didnt show/broke down/delayed, you got free travel by any means to get to your destination.

Their trains may have had issues during the Euros, but compared to what this is looking like its night and day.

The travel by train to stadium in Foxborough is reportedly limited to 20k as well, whilst the car parks hold about half that - 30k fans travelling 25 miles out on buses will be fun.

Gutted to not be there, but also slightly glad to be avoiding this mess.

For the Haiti game we booked the Boston Common Coach… I’d read that the train station at Gillette could turn into a scrum after games.
