There are stars and legends, but who are/were, "The Gods."

Here is a starter list. You can add, star, legend or God.

Add more players too. I am limited in knowledge.

Pele: God
Maridonna: God
Ronaldo: legend
Cruyff, legend
Zidane legend
Gascoigne; legend
Ronaldinho: God

I meant to add Messi and Best as God`s. Don`t know enough about Moore.

I missed Christan Ronaldo because I really don`t like him.
Shouldn`t be personal I suppose

Wouldn`t have Ronaldinho as a God myself, and definitely not Gascoigne as a legend - what did he do?

CR7 has to go down as a god along with Messi Id say. The pair of them took it to the next level these past 20 years. Messi still the greatest of that time though.

Rooney Id add to Legend level.

Keeper wise Casillas and Buffon got to be in there - you can argue over if either are gods or not.

I'm not sure why for at least 3 seasons we haven't picked Scotland Internationalist Anti Niemi.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

Ronaldo absolutely a god, as well as a mega douche bag. Watched a highlight reel with him and Benzema that was to highlight how bad Vini jnr actually is. Ronaldo was so much more than goals.

Neymar shouldve been up there. He had the talent, but not the mentality. Will never blame a guy coming from poverty chasing every penny he can, but I do wish he wanted more success. I think he only really cared about Brazil.

Watching the Champ League this year shows just how good Messi, Ronaldo (And Neymar at Barca) were when you see the level of those assumed to replace them.

I`m gonna put Dennis Bergkamp in the `Legend` category - he`s not Pele, not Maradona, but what a player.

Best first touch in the history of football, and it`s not even close.

"Keeper wise Casillas and Buffon got to be in there - you can argue over if either are gods or not"

Why not ?

Of course you have to add Lev Yashin, Dino Zoff and Gordon Banks in there.......plus a few others.

Matt Le Tissier. Some of his goals are amongst the most imaginative I`ve ever seen. All the young ones can see what I`m on about via YouTube. He also passed on offers from the likes of AF`s peak Man Utd to stay at the club he loved. Didn`t play often for England which is a bit strange, but Glen Hoddle was the manager, Tizzy was often compared to Hoddle and I reckon this comparison irked Glen Hoddle so much that he didn`t pick him. That or small club mentality.

As someone from England, I`m surprised nobody has mentioned Dennis Law yet??!
My shout.. Hiristo Stoichkov. Saw him on my first ever visit to Barcelona on `95. Battering ram who would shoot from any angle or distance as soon as he got the ball. A loony too.
Another one, Ronald Koeman. A brilliant defender with a free kick so hard and accurate, it would blow a mule away.

I blame Andy Rhodes for this!

Interesting ideas on this thread. My point of view is that only Pele could be considered a God. Maradona could have been there too, but his human failings perhaps stopped him rising to that level. The rest mentioned are perhaps Legends in the game of football, nothing more
