This is our chance to finally beat Celtic in a major competition and surely claim the right to call ourselves Giant Killers!

The Pars team of 1961 drew 0-0 with Celtic in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden. They won the replay at Hampden 2-0 and were giant killers.

if ever there was a celtic side we could challenge this is the one. they have the capability to blow us away and the ability to crumble at the same time.

Yuup,
There’s a chance we win 1-0, there’s also a chance we get humped 6-0.
But there’s a chance….

We were a match for Celtic in the 65 final until Billy Mc Neil scored that fantastic goal.

Still wonder about 2004 too and if we had got the penalty for Baldes handball from which they ran straight up the pitch and scored. Could have been 2-0 up, instead of 1-1.

I think if we got that penalty. 2-0 up with 30mins to go. I think we’d have held on and won.

Many referees wouldn’t have allowed Skerla’s goal to stand - it’s swings and roundabouts - Labonte falling on his erse didn’t help at 1-0.

Skerla`s goal could have gone either way. Balde`s handball was unambiguous cheating.

I`m sure I saw some studio discussion afterwards where someone was arguing that there was nothing wrong with it (Balde`s punch, not Skerla`s goal but I imagine he would have disagreed with us on that too).

Pretty sure the ref Stuart Dougal ? was quizzed about thd Balde hand ball , and stood by his decision

So unambiguous that it was only spotted by the video technicians after the ball was played up the other end.

In 2005 he attended a PST meeting, and was asked about the Balde handball.https://dafc.net/index2.php?ID=1827&CATEGORY2=
"The man in black was quite happy to admit he did not see the incident and even after viewing it on TV he was still not convinced it was a penalty!"

The same Balde who handled the ball in a European final, and a European cup game. So no history of him using a hand in games ?
Dougal got it wrong all day long and didn’t have the guts to admit it.

I think we were damned unlucky in 2007. It was a bit like this cup run— really tough. We`d beaten Rangers, Hearts, Thistle and Hibs to get to Hampden, and hopes were high. We had a pretty good squad, including the excellent young prospect, Adam Hammill. Who can forget the dummy he sold Neil Lennon, flicking the ball over his head?
I had flown over from Oz for the game and pre-match, caught up with a few mates in a beer garden near the ground. It was a perfect day weather-wise, and to see 17,000 Pars fans flying their flags in the stadium that day filled us all with such pride. I think that is one of the highlights of my life.
On the field, we equipped ourselves pretty well, but it was not to be. I can`t make the trip this year, but I will, as always, be up in the middle of the night, hopefully waking the neighbours with my cheers.
