 Young Pars out on loan
Topic Originator: red-star-par

Earlier in the season I did a few posts regarding our plethora of young talents out on loan, so I just thought I would pull it all together now we are getting near the end of the season. It`s been a great year for them, really important to have so many of these players between the ages of 16 to 20 years old, going out and really being put to the test against experienced players in proper men`s football. We have seen the benefit of that already with players like Ewan McLeod, Ali Davidson and Lucas Fyfe coming back to feature in our first team, others have played thousands of minutes on loan, some have picked up league winners medals, and others have helped get their teams in to promotion play-offs.

It`s a bit of a long post this one, so I`ll apologise in advance.

In League One
Ewan McLeod, 20, CM. East Fife. Dick Campbell had faith in the youngster and he was first pick at Right Back in the early part of the season, before picking up an injury, and returning to East End Park, where he played the full 90 minutes helping pick up a share of the points against Airdrie and Arbroath. For East Fife he played 16 games, 6 assists and played 1,567 minutes helping them to stay in the division.

Zeke Cameron, 19, LW, helped Stenhousemuir to 2nd Place in League One, pushing Inverness CT all the way. He featured in 37 games, but only had 4 starts, but still managed 1,027 minutes in a successful side.

Taylor Sutherland, 20, Centre Forward, went out on loan to Clyde, played 27 games, 5 goals, 2 assists, before Montrose persuaded us to let him go to them on a permanent deal. I always had high hopes for him here, as he has always looked like a natural goalscorer. He made the step up to League One, played 17 games out of 17, hit 8 goals, and made 2 assists. So, a good season for him at two clubs, 44 games, 13 goals, 4 assists and 2,809 minutes, helping Clyde to 3rd place and Montrose to 6th.

Connor Young, 21, Centre Forward found himself shipped out to East Kilbride. This one seemed more like someone on their way out, than getting a development move. He still had a good season, winning the title, and being 4th top scorer in the division. 37 games, 15 goals, 4 assists.

Sam Young, 20, Centre Back. Started out at Tranent who finished 4th in the Lowland League, where he played 9 games, getting a goal and an assist. That persuaded East Kilbride to bring him in and he played 15 games, with 3 assists there.

Ali Davidson, 20, Centre Back, played in 3 divisions, starting at Bo`ness in the Lowland League, playing 16 games there, before coming back and going on a cooperation loan to Kelty where he played 6 games and scored 1 goal. He also played 2 games for Dunfermline, overall this season, 24 games, 1 goal, and 2,025 minutes of experience.

Freddie Rowe, 18, attacking midfielder also started out at Bo`ness and starred for them in 9 games, getting 3 assists before East Fife`s Dick Campbell brought him in for the League One battle. Freddie managed another 11 games, 1 goal and 1 assist there. 1,045 minutes played this season.

Lucas Fyfe, 17, Centre Forward, went out to Bo`ness 5 games, 2 goals, before coming back to play his part in some big games at East End Park, 8 games, 1 goal, 1 assist. He also played 2 games for Scotland U17s. 523 minutes played so far.

Danny Dobbie, 18, Midfielder, helped Bonnyrigg Rose to a 3rd place finish in the Lowland League, 20 games and 1 assist, with 1,646 minutes played.

Mark Beveridge, 18, CM, started out on loan this season at Glenrothes, then stepped up to the Lowland League for Civil Service Strollers where he played 14 games, and scored 2 goals, playing 773 minutes.

Jake Sutherland, 19, Centre Forward, went out to Forfar Athletic and had a great season getting some rave reviews. 43 games, 11 goals, 3 assists and 2,768 minutes under his belt.

Thomas Margetts, just turned 17, Goalkeeper, picked up some good experience under Greg Shields at St Andrews United.

Kane Richie-Hosler, 23, Midfielder, looks to be on his way out, he played 15 games for us before being shipped out to Stenhousemuir where he made another 10 appearances. Altogether this season he has made 31 appearances, and got 1 goal and 1 assist. 1,195 minutes.

All in all some really important experiences for our young players. We have seen how time out on loan has been so important last season for Jon Tod and Andrew Tod who have established themselves in the first team this season, this batch could be next

Liam Hoggan, 19, Right Back went to Gala Fairydean Rovers but only managed 4 games before injury curtailed his season.

Jesus, and my post has also been curtailed like Liam Hoggan`s injury! I`m not sure I can be bothered re-typing the rest of what I had already written!

You can only get so many words in the one post, RSP. Could you press the back button to get the rest of your post back? I’d like to read the rest of it.

Danny Dobbie, 18, midfielder, spent the season at Bonnyrigg Rose and helped them to a third place finish in the Lowland League. 20 games, 1 assist. 1,646 minutes.

Jake Sutherland, 19, Centre Forward went out to Forfar and got them into the Play-offs. Great season for him, 43 games, 11 goals and 3 assists, with 2,768 minutes played.

Mark Beveridge, 18, CM, went on loan to Glenrothes FC, and did well enough to make the step up to Civil Service in the Lowland League where he played a further 14 games and 2 goals, playing a further 773 minutes.

Thomas Margetts, only 17 got plenty game time as a Goalkeeper under Greg Shields at St Andrews United.

Kane Richie-Hosler, 23, midfielder, played 15 games for us, before being shipped out to Stenhousemuir where he played a further 10 games, getting a goal and an assist. Still played 31 games, 1 goal, 1 assist, 1,195 minutes played.

All in all, the young guys have gone out, playing first team football against men, proper, tough, competitive action, and most of them have played a lot of minutes. Invaluable experience. We seen how Jon Tod and Andrew Tod have went on loan last year and have come back here to establish themselves in the first team, we might see some of these young players doing the same next season.
