 Grounds for optimism
Topic Originator: Ronaldo
Date:   Mon 18 May 16:07

I can understand a few heads going down after Friday/Saturday, but there are surely some grounds for optimism this weekend.

It`s rare chance to see us in a Scottish Cup final (I just missed out on `68) and I`m really looking forward to it.

So could I start the ball rolling with ... we`ve yet to concede in 300 minutes against Premiership opposition this season.

Any other reasons we should travel in hope?

The winners of the tie between Aberdeen and Dunfermline went on to win the Cup last year...

--------------------------

This and the fact that our defence has been good in the cup games so far are the only grounds for optimism posted so far.

Another is - Jerry, Kieran, Charlie, Nuru and Chris Kane will all play if fit.

We`ve got a decent looking first eleven - not suffered any more disastrous injuries since Zak and Olly were crocked.

Our forwards have received some harsh lessons lately in the need to take chances, which should help to sharpen their wits when they`re next faced with a sight of goal.

It` s the last game of the season, so our players can go flat out knowing they can relax on the physio`s couch with big cigars afterwards!

Everyone in the UK, bar Celtic fans, want us to win.

I`m pretty sure the majority of Raith and Falkirk fans are supporting us.

I had this conversation with my rangers work colleague today, and he was saying that, according to him, they would rather be in the ecl than have celtic win the double. Reckoned they could win it 🤣🤣

Somebody bring me up to speed... What have Hibs got against us? Other than us beating them earlier in the comp?

If we win, they lose out on a European spot

They probably don`t realise that if Celtic win the double, then the 5th premiership team qualify for Europe.

I had to explain this to my Lieth born Aussie cousin.
He was delighted before he apologised lol.

I have 2 Hibbee friends at work. One is supporting us, one isn`t.

They`re both fully aware that if we lose they`ll qualify for Europe.

Sticks in my throat given we put them out the cup and they just had to win on Sat at home to claim a place in their own right.

I`ve nothing usually against Hibs but that`s a crap coincidence!!

Really looking forward to the game, seeing the Pars in a Scottish Cup Final is always a joy to behold.

However, Celtic are obviously miles ahead of us and I think it will show on the day.

4-0 Celtic unfortunately.

This should not take away the positive steps we`ve taken this season not just in the cup but the league as well.

C'mon Ye Pars!

You always have to be positive. You will always find positives in any negative situation. Its about us at the end of the day, how we perform on the day. We will need to stand up and be counted, live in the moment, enjoy tge occassion, play the game to our strengths and exploit their weaknesses.

That’s brilliant news. If we have Ox in goal and Abdulai, Ngwenya and Mullen at the back hopefully we can provide a bit of a fortress in defence.

They`re perfectly aware. They`re also lifelong friends of Pars fans and one of them grew up in the town. I`m sure they won`t be quite as disappointed as us or feel guilty about their European place if we lose, but they`re 100% behind us.

I`m sure they`ll be delighted there`s some complete random on here speaking on their behalf and belittling their football knowledge.
