Well you don`t make peace with your allies. Although in this case it was purely random that this game was chosen.
And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

For everything fifa has done wrong at this World Cup I’m sorry to say that isn’t one of them that is directly the responsibility of who’s hosting the game decided they wanted that game before it was announced who was playing that it was going to be the pride game

Seems like a conscious decision to make it that match, a bit disrespectful to the two countries involved.
Why are they even having a Pride match. Did they have one in Qatar? Did they allow players to wear arm bands in support of the LGBT+ community in Qatar?

It wasn`t a conscious decision, it was determined before the draw was made that whatever match was going to be better played at that venue in that day was going to have that designation.
They didn`t have a pride event in Qatar as same sex relationships are illegal in that country.
And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

Why is this a thing? Im not homophobic, but is there really a need for this kind of stuff? Where does it stop?
Also, it’s 100% been picked as a match between two Islamic countries for that EXACT reason. They wouldn’t try this is in Qatar, but will do it here because they can get away with it. Just another example of how dirty an organisation FIFA is.

So if FIFA feels so strongly about having a Pride Match at a World Cup, why have a World Cup in Qatar, or any other country where same sex relationships are illegal?
Why bother having one at this World Cup, when FIFA have already proved they don`t care about the LGBT+ community? They would be as well having a bit more self respect by just not bothering, if they are going to drop their causes if it doesn`t suit the people that fund them.
To be honest, I`m still half expecting them to parachute Israel in as a wildcard entry

Okay I`ll try again. This has nothing really to do with FIFA. Seattle, the city where the game is being hosted is having its annual pride weekend event at the same time as this match is being played. I assume they have this annual pride weekend, you know annually. I looked it up, last year it was the last weekend in June (oh no what will the Google algorithm think of me now!). I`m sure we all agree with the stance FIFA have taken by not asking the local authorities and population to change their traditions and customs to facilitate a world cup match (which was randomly assigned to be Iran v Egypt courtesy of the draw). Just like last time when FIFA told players and nations not to wear any pride armbands at the 2022 world cup precisely because that would be illegal and would offend the host nation, Qatar.
Now we can argue about whether these type of events are virtue signalling or not but we can`t argue with the facts. This ISN`T being done at this match because the two nations involved outlaw homosexuality. Had the nations came out the draw in a different order it could have been Scotland v Haiti being played in Seattle that day.
And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

Just don`t attend this match if you`re a female with independent thoughts* or a proud human with an alternative lifestyle. Jesus wept.
