There was a 1966 WC production shown in cinemas way back if memory serves - but it covered the whole competition. Was actually quite good.
Probably not shown in Italy though 😂

Whaddayamean, VEE? There was a huge crowd at the airport to welcome the squad home after their heroics v N. Korea. They even showered the players with beautiful, ripe tomatoes. 😀
No chance of a repeat this year. 🙄
Not your average Sunday League player.

GG - I suspect I mentioned this before ?
Years later I read that the team`s plane returning to Italy was diverted from one of the major airports to a smaller regional one - Pisa perhaps ?
This got out to the public somehow (who grassed ?) and the aircraft was met by a less than positive welcoming committee with the players and officials having to run a gauntlet of eggs and rotten fruit etc.
Edit - it was Genoa, diverted from Rome airport where a large hostile crowd awaited.
There were still around 700 at Genoa prepared to "welcome" them home.
