There`s a nice message from him on COWS so I presume this was a mutual decision. Coaches seem to have quite a short shelf-life at individual clubs.
“Today my time as a Coach at Dunfermline comes to an end. I leave wishing success to everyone involved both on and off the pitch.I would like to thank all the players for their commitment and effort during my time as their coach.

Why is it weird, I take John’s message as simply I have enjoyed my time and time to move on (new role or retirement etc). Clearly the timing with Bene announcement coincides with his departure.
