England`s World Cup last-16 tie with Mexico is set to be moved to 19:00 BST on Sunday.

Fifa is understood to be bringing forward the game at Azteca, Mexico City, which had been scheduled to kick off at 01:00 BST on Monday (18:00 local time on Sunday).

Forecasts suggest there could be thunderstorms and heavy rain around this time, although Fifa has not yet provided any explanation.

Fifa regulations for World Cup 2026 say they have the right to "cancel, reschedule or relocate" matches "at its sole discretion".

2pm local time? My maths had it being mid day if there are 7 hours of a difference. Either way, I bet it`ll be a lot hotter then than 7pm would have been

No idea what the temperature in the stadium will be but in the City itself it`ll be 22 degrees about five degrees hotter than if it had been played at it`s scheduled time but still far from being hot. Altitude is going to be only factor that can stop England and hopefully it does but Mexico are side which don`t boast many players of physical stature and I fear set pieces and crosses onto the box will be their undoing. The English have an impressive knack of dispatching lesser teams as their qualifying record and indeed their record in the last four major tournaments proves. It`s when they come against a peer nation that they are found out and that might not be until the semis.

And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed
