We`re hearing most of the from England fans that football
is coming home, well that is impossible. Simple reason
is that football was created in Scotland. There`s a programme
that was on BBC Scotland called, Dougray Scott: Bringing
Football Home. You can put a search on it, and i most of
you will find it very interesting.

The football square mile walking tour is also good for this story.

This is Andy Tod`s world and we are lucky to live in it.

Football was invented in lots of places independently. The first that we know of was Mesopotamia over 3,000 years ago. Folk seem to naturally enjoy kicking stuff about.

Fun fact: football was illegal in Scotland between 1424 and 1906:

"it is statut and the king forbiddis that na man play at the fut ball under the payne of iiij d. to the lorde of the lande als oft as he beis taintit (be the scheref of the land or his ministeris, gif the lordis will nocht punnysh sic trespassouris"

Trans: "It is decreed and the king forbids that any man play football under the pain of 4 d. to the lord of the land as often as he is convicted (by the sheriff of the land or his ministers, if the lords will not punish such trespassers)."

So basically you got charged four pence if you were caught, and the law wasn`t officially repealed until 1906.

“The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command.”
