In the Courier, he says there are no plans to send John Tod out on loan. He`s working away in the background and is one of those who`ll benefit from game time during the international break, probably in Mo Hutton`s testimonial against Aberdeen.
He`s delighted with the contribution from Dylan Lobban and says we`d been tracking him for a long time, even when he was previously on loan at Cove Rangers.

We should be looking at working on a deal to get Lobban signed up permanently.
I know he signed a new deal with Aberdeen before he came to us but I’d imagine that deal may have a buy out clause in it.
Here’s hoping anyway. He’s a top player.

Lobban has been one of the best young players I`ve seen at EEP for years. He could go far if he wanted to.

I remember Ally McCoist coming on as a sub for St J against Dunfermline at EEP and scored a cracker. You could the talent that he had, and his potential. I see the same on Lobban.

I think lobban is still very raw but he’s talented with the ball at his feet. I think he’s going to get better and better as the season goes on

Aberdeen clearly rate him highly but knew he had to gain some more experience elsewhere.
He’ll not be coming to us.

It’s true though. You don’t give a new contract to a player and then throw him out on loan unless you think he’ll benefit from it.
Barney Stewart s good example.

I think Barney Stewart was loaned out to us to help him attain match fitness after suffering an injury in pre-season training with Falkirk so his case was slightly different from Dylan Lobban`s.
What I find puzzling is that Aberdeen don`t think Lobban is good enough for their first team. I think he is a perfect example of the problem we have in Scotland of failing to provide a platform in our Premiership for promising youngsters. Who is keeping him out of the side at Aberdeen? After last night`s match Willie Miller was saying that Aberdeen have a good academy in place but too few of its products get a chance to break into the first team.

Olly Thomas signed a new 3 year deal at Bristol City before he joined us on loan. We’ve now signed him on a permanent so it’s possible.

Chris Cadden is keeping him out the team at Aberdeen, which is fair enough.

Chris Cadden only joined from Hibs in the transfer window so presumably Stephen Robinson didn`t think Lobban was first-team standard and wasn`t prepared to give him a chance.

He likely thought he wasn`t the finished article yet and that a loan to the league below would help him progress.
You wouldn`t think that Lennon has written off Lucas Fyfe on the basis of bringing in Thomas, Adams and Shaw.

Yeah Lucas is rated by our management but he does need to play around older players for a season.
I’ve no doubt he can come back a better player for it.
