Big game for Doak I think - all the hype he has to live up to it against lower opposition.

We should win, but NM have gone 10 without a win and 6 without scoring, so we know whats going to happen tonight 🙄

Doak is out of position at wing-back, waste of his ability tbh.

Been on the right by line numerous times and his crossing has been utter dross, including crossing one right out of play again 🤦🏻‍♂️

You can see why Gannon Doak hasn`t established himself with Liverpool or Bournemouth. His final ball seems to be `hit and hope` rather than measured.

It was a clear penalty, if Doak doesnt take avoiding action he`s taken out and risking an injury. Slow mo replays are absolutely awful in those situations.

Doak started the second half very well.

Should see 5-6 minutes to be added at the end purely for the var checks?

By the way the Pars played in Skopje in 1961 in the Cup winners Cup against FK Vardar. We lost 2-0 but had beaten them 5-0 at East End.

Skopje later suffered an earthquake I recall.

Doak is very, very clearly a special talent who has maybe been a bit unfortunate with injury and not getting enough game time. I see the typical mean spirited attitudes coming to the fore online though rather than supporting the lad.

Dreadful pass from. Robertson to leave McKenna struggling . That was a game we should have won 4 or 5 nil.

Decent performance and should have scored more, but a fairly comfortable win away from home. We’ll take it.

Both penalty decisions spot on from the ref as well. Only mistake was not booking Gannon-Doak for a blatant and poor attempt at cheating.

It wasn’t cheating but neither was it a penalty.
He was going at pace into the box and he has to put his foot somewhere.
It just happened to be on the defenders foot which throws him off balance.

Nah, I’m afraid I don’t agree. He stands on the defender’s foot, throws himself to the ground and then jumps up celebrating “winning” the penalty like he’s just scored a goal. Got caught cheating, should have been booked.

Real time I thought it was a blatant penalty but less so after replaying it over and over.

Good result in the end. Pleasing to see the new manager end a poor run

I see it differently. Gannon-Doak has the ball and the defender comes across to challenge him. He doesn’t get the ball and plants his foot directly in Gannon-Doak’s path. Gannon-Doak then steps on that foot and goes down.

The fact that Gannon-Doak’s foot lands on the defender’s makes it any less of a foul. The defender has attempted a challenge, missed the ball and put his leg into the path of an attacker who is in possession.

If the defender had planted his leg there and Gannon-Doak had hit his shin instead, nobody would question it being a penalty. The way it happens is slightly different, but the result is the same: the defender challenges, misses the ball and causes the attacker to fall.

There were more players in the North Macedonia starting line-up that play in Scotland than there were in the Scotland line-up. Not suggesting it’s a bad thing just curious if it’s ever happened before?

One small thing Pocognoli has done to improve the team is move Gilmour slightly further forward so his passing can be more effective in creating chances.

This is how I saw it. If BGD had made an obvious move to stand on the foot that would be different but he was at full tilt and it was planted right in his path. That kind of thing can knacker your ankle (and obviously the defender`s too). I think there might also have been small contact around the thigh or enough proximity that he had to try to avoid it at least

Exactly. You cant just plant your foot in the path of the player with the ball and say its no foul.

Agree. SP said that because we had four games in a relatively short period that he would need to utilize the squad as much as possible. If his team selection for tomorrow is similar to what it has been then quite a few players will have played a significant part in all four games.

I would be very surprised if we don’t see McPake, Miller and Montgomery getting minutes against Slovenia. It would be easy to introduce these players if we were three or four goals up in a game and that’s unlikely.

What an opportunity we missed in 2014.

I see Craig Bellamy is complaining that the extended international breaks favour the bigger nations with the deeper squads who can rotate more easily without weakening their starting XIs. I can see his point.

wee_eck.

Pretty much every governance decision at every level of football benefits the big nations, or the big clubs.

48 team world cup didn`t favour the smaller nations - quite the opposite. It gave the bigger nations far less jeopardy in the tournament. It`s no coincidence that this was the first world cup in history where the top 4 highest ranked teams all made it to the semis.

Best bet would likely be BBC iPlayer.

- although various countries are showing on Sat that reaches Malta, if you can find a bar showing…
Diena Sport - Bulgarian
Digi Sport - Romanian
Nova Sport - Greek
Polsat Sport - Polish
beIN - Arab, Qatar I think
