As part of the clubs World War 1 commemerations we have commisioned 36 " Lest We Forget" Poppy Logo, home shirts, these will be worn by the players at the home game V Greenock Morton on Sat October 25th
The players wearing the shirts that day will sign their individual shirts, the management team will also sign a shirt, with the substitutes for the day signing squad signed shirts
The remaining shirts being individually signed by a variety of true Pars Legends from different eras of the clubs history (details of the Legends will be drip fed throughout the auction period)
The auction process is similar to the CHAS shirt secret auction from last year, we wish to offer 33 of the shirts to be bid for by secret auction
To place a bid simply click on 1970par and send an email with your desired bid amount, your name and posting identity and whether you wish your name to appear on the thread (it can be your initials) In turn I will send you a confirmation email to say if your confidential bid has made the current top 33 bids
I will also inform you by email and by posting on the thread if your bid has fallen out of the top 33 in order for you to bid again if you wish to
The auction will close at 8pm on Friday 24th October whereafter a list of the winning bidders will be posted with the highest bidder being then given the first choice of shirt, the next highest the next choice and so on until all 33 of the shirts have been allocated, payments will be by bank transfer to the Pars Supporters Trust bank account (details will be given)
The final 3 shirts will be as follows;-
Shirt A & B;- The PST have agreed to match the lowest bid in the auction process, in turn these shirts will be put up for raffle in order to allow all fans to have an opportunity to win a "Poppy Shirt" for a £1 stake, the profits from this raffle will go to the club via the PST
Shirt C :- This last shirt will be retained by the club as an historical reference of the initiative and will be displayed in a public area of the stadium
Each winning bidder (plus Raffle winner) will also have an accompanying letter from Club Chairman Bob Garmory to authenticate the shirt
As a fantastic gesture the club have requested that all of the profits from the auctioned shirts (less the retail price and costs) go to Poppyscotland, the clubs nominated charity for this year
Thanks goes to the Purvis Group who have sponsored the additional embroidery costs of the shirts
These Exclusive Shirts are a "one off" and they will not be reproduced for general sale
Good luck to all bidders, I will strive to update the bidding on a daily basis
HOW MUCH AM I BID???
Edited to show increase in the shirts for auction to 33 and for raffle x 2, with 1 being retained, making 36 shirts in total

Ok, lets start to do some namedropping about our legends who have agreed to sign a shirt
How about a European Cup winner with Aston Villa, started his career at the Pars, I remember him having a great forward partnership with Graham Shaw
Our first Pars Legend then is:-
ALAN EVANS
We will drop more in as the auction goes on, I can assure everyone that there are some giants from the clubs past to complement the present squad and managers
Will keep you guessing though?
Just a wee appetite wetter for now

The thirty successful auction bidders and the raffle winner will each receive the following letter from Club Chairman, Bob Garmory.
We thank everyone who bids and everyone who buys a raffle ticket.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
From:
Bob Garmory
Chairman
Dunfermline Athletic Football Club
East End Park
Dunfermline
KY12 7RB
Dear
Dunfermline Athletic ‘Lest We Forget’ shirts
I wanted to write and thank you for bidding for one of the thirty unique DAFC ‘Lest We Forget’ shirts. By doing so, you have enabled the Club to make a very substantial donation to Poppyscotland.
We have already donated firkins of beer to both the Army Personnel Recovery Centre in Edinburgh and the Erskine Home for Veterans, along with a cash donation from our successful World War I day to Poppyscotland.
A look at the many War Memorials that stand in every West Fife community shows the scale of the losses borne by our community in World War 1. Sadly that was not ‘the war to end all wars’ and to this day members of our community continue to serve their country in places of conflict and suffer injury as a result. Poppyscotland does a tremendous job to help those people.
We must never forget that we were only able to save our club because we acted together and helped each other to achieve what many thought was impossible. Our intention this year is to help Poppyscotland raise as much money as possible to allow them to continue their invaluable work to assist those who need help.
On a Saturday, Dunfermline Athletic may win or lose. As supporters we can do little to influence the results on the field other than to help build a stronger, more vibrant community owned football club with decent values. That is what we aim to do and your actions in supporting this unique auction is yet further evidence that this is what we are now doing.
I thank you for your help in this regard.
Come on Ye Pars
Bob Garmory
Chairman

From the above I presume with a tie the first in gets the nod.

Only round pounds accepted or it gets silly
As with any other auction you must beat the existing bid,
I currently have 11 bids at the same amount and another 6 bids the same for a different amount,
as we move on the last person bidding the amount will be the first to drop off
To clarify for example
Bid A @£1 came in Tues
Bid B @£1 came in wed
Bid C @£1 came in Thurs
Bid D@£2 would knock out bid C first if A, B & C were the lowest bids at the time

To answer the question regarding signed or unsigned shirts
There are shirts that we have sent away to be signed e.g Kozma
These obviously cannot be changed
I would think that if your bid is high enough to have your choice of shirt and you wanted one of the current players shirts then we can supply a letter from the player instead of signing the shirt
The onus is on you to make a high enough bid to have the choice

To save you some of the (unseen on here) work, would it be an idea to occasionally? post up the minimum bid required to get dibs on a shirt?
That way folk won't waste their time bidding to low & more importantly you having to reply to each person by email simply to tell them their bid was not high enough?....... Only you will know how often you have had to do that to date
It would also perhaps encourage interested parties to keep up with the thread
"Just thinking out loud"
I realise that's not how the CHAS shirts were auctioned & if you are happy with the current & expected workload that's all good
The lad wi the pocket money bid had best have been saving for quite a while!? or have had very generous parents 😉

Here's a thought: win a Pars 'Lest We Forget' shirt in the auction and then wear it with pride to the Usher Hall event on 28 November, where 100 years to the day, there is an evening hosted by Ken Stott to commemorate the brave lads of McCrae's Battalion (16 Royal Scots) who volunteered in November 1914.
Among the much talked about Hearts contingent were more than fifty Dunfermline boys -- so many that McCrae ensured that 14 Platoon , D Company was the 'Dunfermline Platoon'. Among them was Davie Izatt one of our half backs.
I'll be going -- hope to see you there: I just need to get one of the thirty shirts now!

We asked Christine Evans (Dunfermline Organiser for Poppyscotland) why she puts in all the effort that she does? This has included the organisation of a recent and most successful Ball in the Glen Pavilion
Christine said: ""I have been a volunteer with Poppyscotland for around 15 years and was first "recruited" by my late father to help out. The total raised in Dunfermline has increased year on year, over £32k last year, due to the generosity of everyone in the area. Taking on the voluntary role of Area Organiser a couple of years ago has given me the opportunity to build our volunteer base and form relationships with local businesses but there is always room for more!!"
The Club has invited Poppyscotland to do a bucket collection on 25 October, so if you are not bidding for the shirts you can still back this great cause.
And remember, we will be raffling a shirt very shortly (details to be announced) for £1 per ticket.

Poppyscotland is an important Scottish charity.
Here is some background from Fraser Bedwell, their Head of Communications:
“Founded in the aftermath of the First World War, Poppyscotland has been providing life-changing support for the Armed Forces community for nearly 100 years. The need for specialist help has not diminished during this time, but the nature of the support we provide has changed beyond all recognition.
Poppyscotland is at the forefront of providing practical help, from specialist advice and employment support, to home adaptations, mobility aids and tailored funding packages. We believe those who have served, those still serving, and their families, have made unforgettable sacrifices and deserve special recognition and support.”
So when you bid , you are assisting something very important for Scotland.
We are also working on establishing a WWI Roll of Honour, and from work already done by Gordon Baird, the number on it will be only too large. So when you bid for the Pars Poppy Shirt (and possibly wear it) you are also honouring their memory

We passed a big milestone today moneywise, I would love to share it with everyone but I'm not going to
Can I just say that I am off to Poland for the Scotland game on Sunday so there may be less frequent updates, however I do aim to refresh the bidding every day at some point when wi-fi permits
Heading off with some of my fellow Trailblazers, not Mrs Mcl though (gonna be messy) and my Falkirk supporting friend (will probably spend most of my time explaining the cultural differences between Denny and Warsaw to him and trying to keep him out of the Jail)
Normal service will be resumed on Thursday when I am back,
I apologise in advance if my Polish updates seem a bit garbled, it will probably be due to sampling the vodka!!! (well it would be rude not to)

Whilst 1970par makes the long march to Poland there may be slightly longer breaks in the updates. Not because of technology but because I expect him to be rolling around in some Warsaw bar, drunk as a skunk, with those models of decorum the Trailblazers to guide him..... (Oh dear)
However. hangovers allowing, he will be sticking manfully to the task at hand and hopefully we will get a few updates. Normal service resumes on Friday 17th. Remember the auction runs through until Friday 24th.
In the meantime, just contemplate what a Pars Poppy Shirt signed by Sir Alex Ferguson might be worth to you..........

Todays legend
Where would one start to describe probably the man most recognised as Mr Dunfermline
Pars player from 1970 - 1977 making only 67 appearances and scoring 4 goals (does anyone know that he was the last Pars player to score the winning goal at Ibrox)
Injury cut his playing career short and he became the clubs youngest ever manager in 1982 aged 28, successfully guided the club through from the bottom league to the top of the premier, whilst working in the community to re-establish the fanbase which was in his final season 1990 an average of 13,500
Made a return to the dugout to inspire his players to avoid relegation in season 2005-2006
Now on the board of directors

Kenny did you have you funny bone removed in Poland?
Your normal witty repartee seems to be sadly missing since your return
Great operchancity when Eric Reids bid drooped out........
I expected to see something along the lines of;
"Reid it & weep".....
Or the one before as "Ian Brown you are in the red"
C'mon Kenny, get back in the zone, it's what keeps people looking in, whether it's to laugh or to groan 😂
The above aside, you are doing a sterling job on this......... Any chance of an indication as to what has been raised on here to date?
Oh aye nearly forgot....... When are raffle tickets for shirt no 31 going up for sale & where/how?

Great news to report
Due to the number of former players who have come forward to sign "legends" shirts and to satisfy the huge demand we have decided to increase the number of shirts available in the auction to 33 from the original 30
We have also made another one shirt available for raffle as per the first one with the PST agreeing to match the lowest bid in the auction process
There will now be two shirts up for raffle in total
As before the final shirt will be retained as a historical reference at the club
As you will se by the last three bids there has been no "knockout" of an existing bid as these new bids have come in therefore taking the total number of "live" bids to the required 33
From this action we have an all win situation
More shirts available for auction making more income for the charity
more retaill value shirt sales for the club
more chance to win a shirt in the raffle process
The original post has been edited to show the new details
thanks
Kenny Mclachlan

I may not have time to inform everyone that their bid has been knocked out,
I am also on call at work on Friday so may not update at all on Friday evening
Moral of this story is if you think your bid needs topped up a bit or if you are waiting till the last minute,
I would not, if you are going to do it, do it soon
