Everyone seems a tad depressed around here and I think we have to remember what being a Pars fan requires. It is not all plain sailing; there will be both good times and bad. If you cant handle it then I suggest you go off and become an old firm fan.
Anyway here is a little film to help your remember what being a Pars fan is….. a Rollercoaster ride. It is my recollection of supporting the Pars in the 1980’s, the biggest “Rollercoaster Ride” of them all. It is scored using genuine bad music of the time that used to blare out of the ramshackle tanoy system at East End Park with the smell of Bovril greasy pies and the odd pipe in the air.
Remember.... The Best Times are yet to come!
Rollercoaster (Updated)

Fantastic. Many thanks for a superb production from a Pars supporter from Downunder. I haven't seen any games in the last 27 years, but could remember all the highs and lows over the eighties, as I followed the team through the media and regular updates from my family. I did manage to meet Norrie McCathie and John Watson when I went to the Paragon with my brother, which was special. The playing of Jimmy Shand really brought the memories back as I looked at the old ground. Thanks again and well done.
Many reasons why it is great and very special to be a Pars fan

Thats a very interesting video. It almost makes you want us to go down so we can do it all over again. Those were the days.A real fitba stadium with real fitba and proper fans. Not like the plastic dross we get served today.I was too young to remember some of that but I was still around somewhere. My mum used to take us to all the games when we were wee.

Reading all the comments, it is clear that many people enjoyed the film. Isn't it amazing that we can sometimes forget the simple things such as what to buy at the shops, or people's birthdays, but certain things about the Pars remain in our memories for ever. I wasn't there but will never forget the goal that John Watson scored against Meadowbank, and even further back going to West Brom etc. Thanks again for the work that was put into the film. I will no doubt watch it a few times in the future. Are you thinking about doing one for the sixties?????

Thanks for the memories Groovy.
The music sounds better on the clip that it did coming through the tinny speakers at EEP.
I have really seen the worst and the best of the PARS since I started going to games from the lows of the late 70s to the highs of the mid 80s and late 90s and back to the lows again in the naughties.
Oh what it is to be a PARs Supporter.

The sixties were before my time although I feel I have lived through them because of my dad telling me about them. I would love to get my hands on enough 60's footage just so I make a film with GOOD music...... did they ever play the Beatles, Kinks, Stones or the Beachboys at EEP in the 60's Townsville?.... anyone?

Fantastic video. It was my favourite time of watching the Pars and the away trips were brilliant especially in the old second division. We actually played some good football back then as well. I remember a season when we turned St Johnstone over twice at East End (4-0) and won at Muirton Park (2-1) with a Stevie Morrison free kick.
Hope to avoid the second divison for a while though!

Any chance of a directors cut - there must be some other goals floating about from that era - I have video of a 4-2 v Queen of the South with Watson in his centre-half liability role, the 3-0 gubbing of Falkirk, the 2-1 win over Celtic in the first game at EEP.

Groovy Dave...if you were thinking of doing a sixties one, then I can remember songs such as Frank Ifield 'I remember you" getting a fair bit of play (In fact everytime I hear Frank Ifield mentioned it makes me think of the Cowdenbeath End at EEP) Other songs that spring to mind were the Seekers "Carnival is over" They also used to play a Pat Boone song about a Mexican mouse!!!!! I can also remember the Small Faces "Lazy Sunday Afternoon" and the Troggs, and of course the Beatles and the kINKS. Of course there was the obligatory Jimmy Shand.
One other clear memory I have is going to watch the Reserves at EEP when the first team were playing away, and I couldn't make the away game. The announcer used to give the half time score and I can always remember the loud noise from the speaker as the announcer checked the microphone, before the announcement was made, and the hush that used to go over the ground to await the half time score (in those days the Reserves used to get several hundred at the games) Sometimes the half time score wasn't given ,which was a clear sign that we were being beat!!

Dear Groovy Dave
I would be delighted to provide as many memories as I can about the Pars in the sixties. There would be many people still watching the Pars who would feel the same way. The Black and White Book is still something I get out now and then. The memories are of no interest to my wife who is from Leicester, so she won't listen!! My two kids are Australian born and whilst they both play, they don't have any appreciation of watching the Pars.
Also I have a copy of the Golden Years of Dunfermline Athletic, with footage of the two winning Cup Finals and Everton and Valencia home games and a few other European games. The West Brom game was not included which is disappoiniting, but it probably wasn't televised.
You talk about your dad telling you all about the sixties...we may have stood next to each other at the games. I am 54.

Townsville:
Would be great to get some of that footage, hopefully Parnsnstripes can come up with the goods to save you sending any stuff from Oz. But if after my quest for footage you have some unique stuff we can get a way of getting it to me. I have access to a copy of the "Black and White Magic" and "the Centenery Book" and a few books on "Old Dunfermline" with pictures from the sixties, so I am going to get them scanned.
My Dad is 68, so there is every chance you stood next to him at some point, although he did have season ticket for the stand (sigh) in the sixties. My Dads hero's are Charlie Dickson, Bert Paton is favourite managers Stein, Cunninham and Farm. I would love to do a sort of 3-part series on the sixties and be able to give it to my dad on DVD and just say "here is some memories for you dad!".
ParsnStripes:
If you ciould get that stuff it would be great mate! Just give me an email and I will give you my address and stuff :)
JBpar:
I am just tidying a few things up, adding a couple of goals and I will make it downloadable by bit-torrent. Will post the link here once I have sorted it!

Dear Groovey Dave
I will check with my mum and brother in Dunfermline as I don't know what happened to all the programmes from that era. I had programmes from all the games and the Valencia one is special. I used to sell programmes at the ground in the latter part of the sixties so I can still smell the programmes as they came out the boxes to be sold
I reckon if you gave your dad the dvd with all the memories, he will require a box of tissues as there will be that many tears coming down his face. I know that I still have a tear in my eye as Harry Melrose related his winning goal against Everton. Remember we were hicks from the sticks beating one of the most expensive teams in England at the time in front of 25,000.
I too have Bert Paton as one of my favourite players, although nobody was better than Roy Barry.

First of all I would like to thank you all for your very kind comments. When I made this film I honestly thought only a few people would “get it” but I am truly overwhelmed by the response and quite humbled by it all.
If anyone would like to download “Rollercoaster” to keep I have made it available to download by bit-torrent, the only thing I ask is that you help me seed it for a wee while after you download it.
You can get bit-torrent free here : Bit-Torrent
And once you have installed that you can download Rollercoaster here: Rollercoaster
The download version is a whole 3 seconds longer and is full screen with no borders and has a couple of extras in it.
If anyone has any old video’s of Pars games that they would like to loan to me please email me on davidlemon1973@hotmail.com once I have converted them to pc I would obviously return the tapes to the sender.
Thanks again for your feedback and I’m really chuffed you all seemed to enjoy it.

Seeding just means that you continue to allow people to download the file after you have finished downloading, so if you leave the file where it is (or make a copy if u want to move it) and leave bittorent running other people that are downloading from me and others can get a bit of the file from you.

The problem is we only have 1 or 2 seeders at the moment, once a few folk have it downloaded the trickle will turn into a torrent, thats why it is helpfull if others continue to seed.... it makes everyones download quicker. The torrent is working fine Im uploading to someone just now who is on 24%, if that person continues to seed, the download rate will double, then triple and so on.
Torrents are always a bit slow until we have a few seeders, I'm sure it will pick up soon :)

Have you downloaded it through the Bittorrent client?
If so then leave that client running with the Pars 'torrent' uploading information, this means that you are making the data available for others to download, the greater the number doing this the faster the downloads speeds

Aye it will take ages for now cos of how bit torrent works. Each person connected uploads a wee bit so the more people in the "swarm" the faster it goes.
It seems plenty folk are downloading the file and then shutting down their PC/bit torrent client. It is good BT etiquette to leave a torrent uploading (seeding) until you've uploaded at least as much data as youve downloaded
McParvie? You probably just need to wait for your bit torrent thingy to pick up some"seeds". Mine took ten minutes or so tog et started.

"peers" are folk who don't have the whole thing yet, "seeds" have finished downloading and are making the file available for others.

if you have a number above 0 in the "up speed" column then ur seeding.
You should also have a column called ratio which describes how much youve downloaded compared to uploaded. When this gets to 1.000 uv done ur bit torrent duty and given back what uv taken.
I'm actually having problems with it myself now. got peers and seeds showing but wont connect to them. Hope they haven't all messed up their router settings lol
