This has absolutely zero to do with "The elites view on climate"
The way to deal with the pollution caused by fuel in not to raise taxes. It is to provide more renewable energy, better public transport infrastructure all at affordable prices.
The majority of those rioting will have concerns about climate change but are absolutely correct to protest as tax hikes are not the answer and have an adverse effect on the poor while the rich get to carry on as normal.

The French have never been slow to speak their mind and display their protests very publicly.
Don't like the violence obviously, but at least their government know how people feel. They can't ignore it and need to react.
Maybe they are heading for the sixth republic since the revolution.

Sure it has SIF.Most leaders are constantly telling us how the planet is in "dire" shape and "immediate" action is needed.Same old play book,create a crisis and usher in their solution.
Renewable sources are fine but use all the resources the planet has.
