It would be one thing if we simply couldn`t afford it, but we quite clearly can.
The UK reminds me of those parents who spend all their money on expensive status symbols (eg nuclear deterrent programmes) but send their kids to school hungry.

You can't even blame the Tories for this as the rate was similar under Labour too.
Everyone in Scotland should have a safe home. Unfortunately, some genius sold off a lot of the houses meant for those with less money. Many of those houses are now in the hands of landlords who charge more than the council ever did for a poorly maintained property.

How about rather than saying Tories or labour we start saying neoliberals instead?
It saves time, conveys the same information, and helps folk to avoid arguing about which essentially identical thing is the least evil.
