I support independence but can at a glance pick out a problem with this.
Saying we pay for HS2.
HS2 is a project that we get Barnett consequentials from so we don't pay for it we get that amount back.
Crossrail would be a much better example as we contribute to that back because it is deemed a different type of project to HS2 we get no Barnett consequentials.
Crossrail is classed as a "local transport scheme" simply because it is administered by Transport For London. HS2 is a national scheme.

There are many more examples where Scotland gets shafted like this.

This is a reason we need to be concerned about the proposed "privatisation" of GP surgeries in England.
If they are then deemed "local" and not part of the NHS then Scotland stands to lose all funding we currently get towards GP surgeries.

An example from the past is how we helped fund all the projects around the London Olympics with no Barnett consequentials.
But the Glasgow Commonwealth Games had to be funded by Scottish Government.

I think the point with the likes of HS2 is that money is handed over as a percentage of the amount spent whether it's wanted or not.

It'd be like my wife going out and buying a new Mercedes and justifying it by saying she bought me one too. Then we divorce and I've got £50k if debt I didn't want.

Wouldn`t it be more like your wife buying a Mercedes and then giving you 50k to spend on whatever you want?

And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

Probably more accurate. Either way you've got £50k of debt.
