Giving it all away...Where`s Sid ?

Whatever happened to the "Not for Profit " Utility Company promised to Scotland 5 years ago.
Imagine if it had come to fruition, no fear of £5000 annual fuel bills on the horizon.

Even if the supplier was a not for profit that supplier would still have had to put up prices as they are only suppling you with fuel/energy that they have bought off someone else. Suppliers make about 2% of profit from what they bill you so a not for profit could have seen bills being hypothetically marginally lower

And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

I was at the SNP conference where this motion was passed.
It wasn`t a promise to start a not for profit utility company.
The motion was to look into the feasibility of it.

Surely you can see that there are for profit utility companies going out of business. How do you imagine a not for profit one would fare in the current climate.
They would still need to buy the energy.
What needs to happen to have a non profit utility is for energy production to also be owned by the non profit.
This is not possible as oil and gas licenses are issued by Westminster.
The Scottish government is not in a position financially with limited borrowing powers to start production of renewable energy themselves.

There was no promise of a non profit utility company, it was a feasibility study. I`m thinking they found it not to be feasible currently cause basically it isn`t.

I see, so in effect we were duped thinking Scotland would benefit with their own government owned supplier.

Our power not for profit Scottish energy - was created and took millions of money from Scottish government, Scottish councils and housing associations before eventually going bust owing even more millions and causing mayhem with customers.

Not for profit energy company makes little difference if the energy supplier is charging a fortune. We`re a country filled with wind turbines and hydro plants yet pay a fortune for electricity. Energy companies merely charge you what they get charged plus a bit on top. It`s the supplier who is raking in the cash.
