Just found a wee Colombian place (I almost said "Colombian joint "there, but caught myself just in time) that does fab octopus dishes... do you like octopus or do you find it a bit Frank Rubbery...?

I know I'll regret this, but what the hell were you doing in Hull eating octopus?
It's like being in Sri Lanka eating toad in the hole...

I enjoy it especially done with a tomato paprika type sauce.

On a similar vein anyone like Mozambique style deep fried battered baby squid heads with tartare or peri-peri sauce ?

Never tried Mozambique style mate but here in Spain they do great deep fried battered baby squid... they're called "Sevillanos" and are disturbingly tasty..
As far as tartare sauce goes, I could eat that with absolutely anything... I utterly adore it...
It's the thinking man's salad cream :-)

Just happened to find myself in Hull for a few nights after delivering a tug boat From Rosyth to hull for a refit.
It was one of they restaurants that done everything.... Chinese / Indian / Thai / Mexican / etc...
Really enjoyed it... But never had it since.
I should probably add that I was under the anfluence of ilcohol at the time....

I had Octopus in Santiago de Compostela and it is the best I have ever tasted. The way it was cooked and presented was amazing and it was in a standard cafe, nothing fancy.
