Is there a place where I can find out how to do these things?
I can see below the box as I'm typing this it says 'To create a link type the (etc)'
As an example, would this be right?

(I see that as soon as I posted this example it went red and the Url bits dropped off at each end, so I suppose that's worked.)
But I can't see any info for how to post a picture, e.g. like GG Riva does, or a wee bit o' film like 'Wake up sheepies'.

Hm, don't know exactly what happened there. It's posted under your name widtink. I managed to do that just by putting img in front of the address. I was hoping I could crop it to just leave the guy on 'Millionaire'.
Is it possible to crop?

OK so the img at the start of it needs to be inside brackets like these [ ]
The img at the end needs a / in front of it... And needs to be within brackets again.
So all I done was put brackets (I don't even know if they are called brackets... But hey ho) either side of the first img... And added a / before the end img... And added the brackets.
The at the end is wrong so I removed that.
As you can guess I'm not the techy guy but that's my way of explaining it.

As I said... I'm not the techy guy so I've no idea if you can crop the other two pics out by altering the code.
Theres probably more technically minded folk on here that could answer that question.

Does the address need to have http:// at the start? And if it doesn't have that, can I just add it?

There ye go... Dave knows a lot more aboot the techy stuff than I ever will.

That is a standard gif.
They work the same as pics. You just put the img inside the square brackets before https (no space in between).
Then /img inside square brackets at the end of gif ("again no space in between) .
So that it becomes....

Thank you widtink. I just came back. Then I had to go and show my wife the piglet. We both had a right laugh: marvellous. Now I'm going to have another go to practice posting an image so if I don't get it right you'll know it's me plugging away with my old low-tech mind.

Is that it - you can't alter the image size - you just have to find one that's not bigger than, say. 600x300 (landscape)?

The big image was 1620x1080.

Yeah I've no idea what the limit is size wise... But I'd imagine there is a set limit.

sorry for delay in answering, but you got some good help
I need to integrate a file upload to the forum, I have some code to do that now so hopefully it will get added soon.
I guess I could try and modify the output tohave a maximum width, I shall have a go at that ;o)
I did setup the site share2.co.uk to allow file upload, there are instructions on the image with the exact code (as you have above with [ IMG ])

woo hoo !
it's amazing what you can do when you set your mind to it.
I've modified the code to manage the images, they will now come out a maximum size of 600px. easy (i.e. if you specify an image then even if it is large the system will always show it as a max size 600px wide so you don'[t necessariuly need to use a smaller image)

On my phone (android) I have to long press on pics/gifs and then select "copy image location".
Then paste it and add the brackets and img.... It's img for pics/memes/& gifs remember.
No spaces and img always in lower case.
