I’m sure there will be fans of the novels on here but are there any fans of the David Lynch movie and what are your thoughts about the planned new Denis Villeneuve movies?

I really liked the Lynch version, did very well with the limitations of the time.
If they get the politics side right and avoid going all out action I could see the new films doing quite well imo..

All the disagreements between the director and the producers didn’t help Lynch’s film realise it’s true potential either. Even the TV special version doesn’t although the prologue is much better than Lynch’s. With the budget they have for the new movies I’m sure they’ll put out a visually stunning film but, like you Rasta, I reckon it needs to really nail it with political & religous aspect of the storyline or the first film could flop & we’ll never see a second.

With such rich source material it would be far better suited to a TV series.
And although my eyes were open
They just might as well be closed

There's a 3 part series from 2000.
