Had the same. I contacted the solicitor regarding this (no detail was given on what the comment was) and received no response.

Emailed them and advised my username. I thought it was in relation to a post from a few days ago (admin have deleted it now) but not sure. I contacted the chap (assuming it's the same guy) on Monday and had no reply from him.

Do you know what the thread was, my issue is that they are phishing or collating info.

Yep, same one. What was odd is my email address was public until a few minutes ago. I've now hidden it.
I'd hope if someone objected to something I'd said they'd just let me know (it's why I left my email public until now) as I'm not here to upset people (though seem to manage it on the politics forum all the time!)

Just to confirm that Brian acted professionally and followed the GDPR guidance. I personally chose to contact the solicitor in question. I have received no response and consider a line to have been drawn under it.
I'm not admin but I'd suggest closing or deleting the thread before another batch of emails needs sent 😉

Well they are able to contact the admin who first contacted me .
If they can provide a explanation of what it is they wish to address to the admin then, firstly, i give my permission to let them do this
I'll happily receive the opportunity to remove anything that is deemed offensive or otherwise to resolve the matter.

Id suggest to everyone on here that they make their email addresses not visible from their profile.
Under GDPR your email address IS personal data and as you have chosen to make it public and subject to trawling as seems to have happened here.
Id also suggest that everyone who received some legal email gets together as a group and
1. Collectively use a nominated third party as a representative to find out what it relates to
2. Having the full facts/info, consider making the issue very public via the media
3. Trawling, threatening behaviour, censorship and indeed bullying in that respect simply isn't acceptable
.NET/Brian should be in a position to help do the right thing here.

yes, I agree.
I wouldn't be so flippant where solictors and legal action come in. It is not up to admin to decide the legalities.
I would rather those contacted deal with this quickly and quietly behind the scenes to at least get any threats of legal action out of the way first.
that would help me a lot.
your points maybe ok, however with regard to 'censorship' that depends on what you mean. if we get threatened with any kind of legal action the easiest way in the short term is to hide posts that have been reported so they can be dealt with.
if you think that is censorship then that is your prerogative however we are just protecting ourselves. I know some people see that differently but that is only their opinion, shouting and bullying about it does not help your case. I don't want solictors knocking on my door for something that you have said.

I'm not sure who you think you are.
I believe it to be our site and we have some kind of conditions to help moderate the site that aims to keep us on the right side of the law (you have to accept that we are not legal people so probaly err on the bigger side of caution).
if you are worried about free speech I will reiterate that many people come on the forum and do have a say. It just seems to happen that one or two people (or maybe 4) seem to have a problem, like you for example ?
if that was me I'd be thinking about the admin guys as they do a lot of good work and I would not want them to get into any trouble.
I'm not very impressed with your veiled threats either. I'm sure if you are not happy you will find other locations on the web to have a say. You could also perhaps ask for a refund of the fees we charge you each year for using the site ?
I'm not sure why DAFC would need a good solicitor, this site is run by private individuals.
I will wait for the other admin guys to close this thread as it is going nowhere.
