Dunfermline Athletic

An early look at the Scottish Championship odds

Date: Wednesday, 25th Oct 2023

The Pars chances and the teams to beat . . . We’re beginning to settle into the season in the Scottish Championship as we head into the busy winter and Christmas period, where results can twist and turn dramatically as teams fall in and out of form, all playing a major part on how the table ends up.

It’s been a relatively solid start to the season for Dunfermline following promotion back to the division and solidifying their position back in the Championship certainly is a must. They’re starting to do that, and the Championship winner odds are even in sight should form continue to go in the right direction.

The bookies are already having their say on the winner odds at this early stage. Given the timing, it’s perhaps a little too early to go all-in on a side. It’s effectively showing your hand far too early if you were playing a poker game on casino777.nl or any other online casino. However, teams are going to have to gamble to pick up points in the coming weeks and cement their position either at the top of the table or in the playoff positions if they’re going to enter the new year well placed.

How the bookies are pricing The Pars
Most bookies have James McPake’s side fourth favourites to earn promotion, significantly behind the three ahead of them. That said, the league is looking well balanced at the moment, and Dunfermline are only a few wins away from being right up there.

Lewis McCann will be vital in that. He’s already hoping for a Northern Ireland call-up, and impressing in front of goal in the coming months will not only see the Pars strengthen their position in the league, it could also go a long way in securing that for the 22-year-old. He’s secured his long-term future at the club and is going to be key in any promotion hopes they have, currently 14/1 to top the league.

Strong>Dundee United the team to beat
Dundee United are far and away the team to beat for the automatic promotion spot. They’ve started the season well after being relegated last term and are unbeaten at the time of writing on 18 points.

The bookies already have them odds-on to secure automatic promotion, with Louis Moult enjoying life in front of goal at present. It’s hard to see past them, but there’s every chance in the playoffs for those teams around them.

Partick and Raith favoured for play-off push
Both Partick Thistle and Raith Rovers sit comfortably above Dunfermline with the oddsmakers when it comes to promotion, and Raith are currently hot on the heels of Dundee United on 17 points.

Goals are proving to be free-flowing for Partick though, and that could cause plenty of problems for the rest of the division, with Brian Graham, Steven Lawless and Kerr McInroy all finding the net multiple times so far this season, the former topping the goalscoring charts at present.

To win the division and secure automatic promotion, Partick are priced ahead of Raith at 4/1 with the second placed club currently 5/1.

Of course, it’s still all to play for, and the next few weeks and months are going to have a major say on how the promotion push goes come the end of the season.
