It just shows the benefit of sticking with young guys and not writing them off too soon.

Delighted with this, it would’ve been a real shame if we’d stuck with him this long and lost him as soon as we’re starting to see a more complete player. Edwards next please 🙏

Not everyone is an overnight star. I`ve just been reading about Ollie Watkins who has just signed a 5-year extension with Aston Villa. He started in Exeter City`s academy and went out on loan to non-league Weston-super-mare. In 2017 he joined Brentford before moving to Villa in 2020.

Fantastic news, he’s a massive player for us and only going to get better. This is our operating model in action.

He’s a lot better than he was and has worked hard especially on his touch and link up play. You’re still never sure if he’ll have any impact in a game bar working his socks off but hopefully consistency will come. His workrate is vital up front when playing with wighton.
If he could find his finishing boots more often he could be a real asset.

Excellent news. With his physique, Lewis can become a real star. McPake has suggested that he just lacked a bit of self-confidence. That`s obviously improved since last season. I would suggest that if it keeps improving, he`ll start banging in a lot of goals.
He could become another Nisbet. 😀
Not your average Sunday League player.

There was always a player there with McCann. He just needed the right manager to unleash his potential and right now he seems to going from strength to strength. Good to see he realised this himself on his interview. This is amazing news!

I`ve been biting my tongue on any Nisbet comparisons but now someone else has said I`ll admit it. He`s not at that standard yet but he`s getting close to where Nisbet was at a similar age when he was with us. The way he bullied the defender, made a smart pass. anticipated the lay-off and hit a shot with power with near perfect accuracy(perfect would have been 6 inches more inside) against morton was very Nisbet like.

Nisbet is very quick and a natural finisher, but I never got the impression he "bullied" defenders per se. Completely different style of player.

They are nowhere near similar players 😂 Nisbet could finish 1v1, Lewis struggles with that, but Lewis is very good at finishing with no time to thing, and very good at getting it to feet and running and defenders. Don’t mind Nisbet ever “bullying defenders” - he would win his fair share of ariel challenges, but certainly didn’t bully them.

Well chuffed. Good business to get one of our prized assets tied down.

What I like about the extensions McCann and Todd signed (and did Edwards sign one too?) is that they give the club scope to make some money from them and it seems that the players are recognising that. So many players have furthered their careers with us only to let their contracts expire with the club getting no compensation for the opportunity we gave them.

It’s a good move to protect our young assets like McCann, Kane, Otoo, Fisher etc
It means they will be with us for a few years or, the club gets a decent fee if bigger outfits come in ?
Lewis has earned his extension. He’s worked hard and has improved each season
It`s bloody tough being a legend
