Interesting that it looks like we`re going to s 3-4-1-2 today, unless Summers plays wide which I`d say is not his best position. Of course it could be 4 at the back but I can`t see that either. Hopefully we can get something from this one but will be a tough one for sure.

Jakubiak certainly made the 2nd goal for us , he has a good turn of speed to get past defenders but i don`t think he can score in a brothel
Would like to see him get a goal as it would do him the world of good

I would argue that this is the most important result of the season so far. A win, away from home, to put a bit of daylight between ourselves and the team immediately below us in the race for a play off spot.

Not getting carried away but there will be a much more positive vibe at training next week than there was after our SC exit.

Speaking of rivals for a play off spot, ICT are moving ominously up the table with another impressive result today. Big Dunc has certainly given them a proper "managerial bounce." Not quite as impressive as Unai Emery at Villa but heading in the right direction.

I can`t see Billy Dodds getting too many new offers.... 😀

Todorov is good for bringing on with ten minutes to go if you are chasing a goal. He probably sees himself as better than that, but unfortunately he isn’t. I liked him last season, and was important for us, but the money used on his wages is probably spent better on all rounders. He was probably on a fair whack as well.

Brilliant performance today. The kind of performance you walk away proud of no matter if you are a fan or manager. Can’t ask for much more from the guys. Their keeper pulled off some good saves to keep it respectable. I think we really should have had 2 or 3 more goals.

We are going in to a home game against Partick on good form and full of confidence. A win will see us 1 point off 3rd with a game in hand. We are doing way better than what you could ask for from a newly promoted team.

I agree that ICT will be in or about the play-off spots before too long. I tipped them for promotion at the start of the season and was surprised by their poor start.

I never saw the game but :-

I`m listening to Radio Scotland and the pundits are saying they cant believe Airdrie did not get anything from the game

They played great football and had many chances .. then the Pars get a mention .. But Dunfermline held on or something similar to that

We only conceded 3 fouls in 90+ minutes and had more possession .. more shots on target .. which suggests to me we were the better team

 Great win COYP

As a unit thought the whole team played well. Sat back & soaked it up when we had to and hit them on the break. Subs were spot on Jakubiak held it up well & created 3 great chances and we started to really open up the Airdrie defence.

Airdrie have some tricky we players but no real threat 1-2 a deserved result at a difficult venue.

Crazy-horse in goals for Airdrie providing plenty entertainment for the away support.

Good post Row ZZ - A comfortable win against Airdrie for a change. We certainly could have scored more. Jakubiak once again had a great impact when he came on. Also great to see O’Halloran sprinting to close down and defend in the 89th minute.

I suspect the best is yet to come from Jak and O`Halloran. It`s not particularly relevant what commentators say. It`s important to perform and the result speaks for itself. Solid again today.

I thought Chick Young retired a few years ago. He seems to have made more comebacks than Sinatra. He started his report today by saying we won 2-0 and then it was all about Airdrie undeservedly getting nothing from the game.

Hammy did brilliantly winning headers with superb positioning and timing. It was a good all-round performance but the positive thing is there is still room for improvement. Jakubiak was a handful when he came on and it was good to see Matty Todd getting a goal. I feel he just needs a wee spur to kick-start his season.

I laughed when I heard Chick Young`s report on the way home, one of those where you wonder if the person has watched the same game as you. Initially he also said the score was 2-0!

I agree with what was said above about that being the kind of game that makes you feel proud of your team. I`m really happy with how we played in the second half and there`s no doubt at all that we deserved to win today.

The first half was pretty even. Not many clear chances but it felt like a lively game with both sides attacking when they could and trying to make the most of the space in behind. Really good work from McCann to get in behind for the goal and well finished as well. Both teams had played quite well up to the first goal. The only really bad spell in the game for us was from 1-0 to half-time. Up until we went ahead we`d mixed up the short stuff with more simple, direct football and had worked quite well. After we scored we tried to do that `slow it down` stuff and struggled a bit as they pressed a bit higher and gave us no space. I was glad to get to half-time a goal up.

The biggest concern in the first half was how their left winger was getting down the line so easily and putting decent balls in. We really needed to tighten that up after half-time and did so really well. We didn`t have much of the ball early in the second half, but O`Halloron maybe dropped sightly deeper on that side and from then on we weren`t threatened at all from crosses down that wing.

Ben Summers was struggling a bit - some decent touches at times but he always seemed to give the ball away before we got anywhere and it was a sub that needed to be made. From that double sub onwards, we became much more threatening, probably because Matty Todd was better able to help with the defensive work as well as in attack. Jakubiak also improved us, and by putting himself about we forced mistakes in their half and helped us play the game more in their half. Nice second goal, where he did well to get behind and play a nice ball inside that was absolutely buried.

We were quite comfortable at 2-0, but the last sub didn`t help us. I`ve said it many times before, but Lewis McCann is a hugely important player for us when we`re defending a lead late in a game. As a forward helping with defensive work, he`s outstanding. As soon as he went off, the game swung back Airdrie`s way as we became ragged at the back.

A bit annoying we lost the late goal but thankfully we didn`t have too long to hold on.

That was a great second half effort from us today. I`m relaly pleased with them tonight after that second half, both in defence and attack.

Good performance, 3-0 would have been a fairer reflection than 2-1, but makes little difference. Defence looked solid, Mehmet had a couple of good saves late on and we got a bit lucky with the header that hit the bar in the 1st half, but otherwise looked solid. Hamilton was excellent, MOM for me with Chalmers just behind him, Allan did more defensively I thought today. Jak was lively again but his shooting is keeping the score down at the moment.

Definitely more to come when Summers, Todd get match fit, Bene and co to return, onwards and upwards!

Interesting to look at our defensive shape today. We`ve done this for quite a while now (since Queen`s Park away I think) and also did so a few times last year, but today was another of those where we seemed to drift between a 3 and a 4. It hasn`t always been entirely convincing but today it worked really well.

If you had to pick a shape, you`d probably say it was a back 3 but the variations of it were really quite interesting if you`re into the tactical side of football. In the past, it`s sometimes been a simple variation with Josh Edwards stepping up on the left to leave it as a back 3, but would often come back to effectively play at left back and the 3 others shift across. That`s been the most common one but now Aaron Comrie often steps up from the back 3 to effectively be an extra midfield player. O`too as well sometimes, but Comrie more often.

There were points int eh first half when I was looking at our shape and saying it was an absolutely solid 3 at the back. And other times I`d look and it looked like a solid 4. I`d love to watch that game back wihout any emotional interst, so that I could just look at our shape and how it varied through the game. I`d find it absolutely fascinating.

Socks can you take over Chick Youngs job. Far more eloquent , critical and lucid than that hasbeen Young. Maybe Radio Scotland should come to you for match reports?
 We should petition it!

 Good Post Row ZZ

I never saw the game but :-

I`m listening to Radio Scotland and the pundits are saying they cant believe Airdrie did not get anything from the game

They played great football and had many chances .. then the Pars get a mention .. But Dunfermline held on or something similar to that

We only conceded 3 fouls in 90 minutes and had more possession .. more shots on target .. which suggests to me we were the better team

 Great win COYP

Chick Young missed the first goal going in…sums him up really

Superb result at a tough place to go against a decent Airdrie team with three first choice centre halves out injured! We can take a lot of pride from this result! Hopefully we can carry this onto next week. So proud of the boys today!

Hammy made the SPFL team of the week. Ex-Pars Nat Wedderburn, Ian Wilson and Danny Armstrong also featured.
