Without doubt the finest press release ever. Now that’s a vision for a business, fantastic.

People on Twitter just want to hear about signings.
Football is a business, and those of us who work for larger companies will know all about visions, ethos and treating everyone fairly etc.
Fair play to the club for producing this, and you can see that it is already being adhered to by the players on the pitch although James and Dave have had their fair share of chats with the referees this season. Maybe they take the hit rather than players being booked for dissent?

Folk on social media posting crap are generally idiots. One look at their profiles says it all. Those types couldn`t arrange a lunch box let alone a football club!

I get where they`re coming from but I`m not sure it transfers to Scotland.
It`s something St Pauli can do but I`m not sure us Fifers really care about this sort of ethos. Or anywhere in Scotland.

But is the point not to try. in an admittedly small way, influence the club and society as a whole.
Gotta start somewhere and shouldn`t be instantly rubbished as we`re "only interested in 3 points on a Saturday"

I don`t disagree with you at all. I just have my doubts it`ll have an impact but I`m naturally sceptic.

For me, what was described in the corresponding slides should be central across all football teams - so immediate reaction is supportive…
However, as someone said above, for those of us working in large corporations, we get force fed all this sort of stuff regularly, and it never seems to make a difference when decisions to protect shareholders are made…
So will be interesting to see our respect for referees and exemplary on field behaviour when the opposition get awarded a dodgy penalty that has big impact on the game
Haven’t seen much in media about it so will be interesting if discussed on radio today

Scotland would be a safer place for women if a couple of clubs on the west coast pushed this approach.

Yeah, I found it a bit Brentian tbh. (The Office, for anyone not familiar!). Business buzzwords etc. Probably fine as a presentation to sponsors and investors but not something the average fan will care much about.

I`m all for it, it`s the way to go.... However, having said that, when St Pauli visited in the summer and started to unveil a couple of big banners, something about migrants being human too (which would possibly alienate a few of the unionist posters on here - no real loss in my opinion), and something else about trans folk, and as they did someone behind me shouted “Fv(% off St Pauli!".
If I am being honest though, we, as a club and as a community (myself included) probably need to start being a bit more accepting and open minded

The main things for me as a supporter at the moment is seeing us perform on the pitch each week and hopefully having successful training facilities that will benefit us for years to come.

I`m of the view that this is clearly a perfectly proper and appropriate direction to take. What harm can it possibly do? To state the ethical purpose, alongside the sporting aims, of our club has to be a positive thing.
The alternative would be to admit that we might be a club which would cheat or condone abusive or disrespectful behaviour from anyone associated with the Pars as long as we "win".
That`s no basis for a football club, or any corporate identity at all really. I genuinely appreciate the long term, sustainable direction being gradually and carefully established by the current Board. We`ve gambled on short term success before remember.
I am proud to be a Pars fan and want to always feel that way.

An excellent statement from the club, sets the tone for the club and for the fans. Every true fan must buy into this without question. Can easily be applied to this site as well, and how people should express themselves and have respect for others, and in particular respect for the players and the management staff. Well done DAFC.

Maybe there`s more to come, but on the basis of that page on the website alone, it all seems a bit empty and meaningless to me. And some of what`s in the presentation seems to promote positive values but ones that don`t seem to have much relation to the rather nebulous concept of `sportsmanship`. What does `positive fan culture` actually mean? And how does it relate to sportsmanship? `Community involvement` is fine as a principle, but doesn`t seem to me to have any relationship to sportsmanship whatsoever.
If a referee gives a decision against my team that I disagree wtih, I`m still likely to shout at him. If he gives a particularly bad one, or an important one that`s wrong, or a string of decisions against my team that I think are wrong, I`m still going to direct my shouty, sweary rants at him. And the next time one of our players is in a position where they have the chance to haul back an opponent and take a booking for the team, rather than leave us exposed to a dangerous break, I still absolutely want them to do that.
If that means I`m not a `true fan`, well, whatever.

To be frank Socks, if that`s your attitude, then you are no longer welcome as a supporter of Dunfermline Athletic Football Club. You need to get with the program, and then we will see if you are fit to be allowed back

Read between the lines. This is a "don`t be a d***" statement to show we`re a welcoming, forward thinking and family friendly club. That doesn`t mean we won`t have fans shouting at the ref/opposition but hopefully means fewer songs about the sexuality/sexual preferences of players/officials.
Position the Pars as what they are - a club for everyone and definitely NOT a club where we care which church you don`t go to every Sunday.

How many of our players committed " Professional fouls" since this statement came out, surly not sportsman like.
A huge Pars support would like to see a wining team to match the commitment from the fans.

We have conceded at least 40 fouls fewer than every other team in the league.Fair play is all very well but it`s difficult to succeed in this league if you don`t put a foot in or have a physical side to your game.I think we look lightweight at times.

We rarely compete in the air and to be honest we’re defo not physical enough in midfield where rather than compete we simply approach and hope they pass the ball away.
