Costs a goal a game……shot today for first goal was at him and what does he do…..pat it back into play. Surely our gk coach should look at this and question why his decision making cost is a goal. He’s a 1st div goalkeeper at best unfortunately

Teams know to put crosses into our 6 yard box as keeper never leaves his line. And when he does he drops it at the strikers feet

Keeper was not at fault for the first goal the shot was right at him, he saved it nothing more he could have done really from about 2 yards out. I do agree he should start coming for more crosses but noticed when Harrison Sharp was in goals he never came out either, I wonder if its (a strange) instuction

Honestly you should all look at the defenders positioning before getting on the keepers back…
McPake should be the first to show them how to defend…

He should have been out and commanded the area. I`ll need to see it again in highlights but at time it was his ball before the shot was even hit.

He can make decent parried saves but it`s like he puts butter on his gloves when it comes to catching it. He had one later in the second half that he saved, spilled, re-gathered, spilled again then gobbled up eventually. Not a good sign.

I just can`t see Mehmet being at fault for the first goal, he did all that could have been expected of him - no keeper is going to catch an unexpected deflection from Breen`s knee at a couple of yards range. And it wasn`t a ball he should have come out for either.
For the second goal, perhaps it could be argued that he should come out for the cross ball, but I don`t think that`s clear-cut. Equally he could have expected Edwards to have done his job and stopped the Raith player getting a header in.
(It`s all about opinions, and to be fair, I have no goalkeeping or coaching experience, so I`ll defer to anyone who has and explains what Mehmet should have done differently at either goal.)
What i saw overall was a reasonable performance (with a couple of decent saves) from a Championship-level keeper playing behind a makeshift defence that had to become even more makeshift when Fisher went off - some of the defending was very poor.

Mehmet hasn`t covered himself in glory at times this season, but anyone blaming him for the first goal yesterday is going to the game looking for a reason to give him grief.

I don’t blame Deniz for the first goal but we - and I mean a lot of folk around me in the main stand including the bbc - thought the ball came off him last.
I’d say the defence wasn’t up to par (sorry) to allow the player through in the first place.

Nobody is denying Mehmet made a couple of decent saves but so did the opposition keeper and he could barely stand on one leg , i think its Mehmets inability to come for a ball that lets him down

But wouldn’t it be the case that if he did come out and off his line - which he has done before now - and wasn’t great with it, he’d be vilified for that, too?

Last few times I’ve seen mehmet you can tell he’s struggling for confidence. Too quiet and looking like just being out there is an ordeal.
But he’s another experienced pro that we’ve handed a longer term contract to who won’t be able to take us any further.. I’d wager he’s on good money so we’ll not be able to move him on.

Having watched the highlights I would not blame Mehmet for either goal. At the time I was convinced the free kick for the first goal was going out of play. It was a hellish ball to deal with but Breen could have done better. The second goal was simply O`Reilly getting the better of Edwards.

He does make some good saves but they all tend to be parries (sometimes of course that`s fine, like the one referred to be above) but he has several issues with catching (or catching then spilling as he did last night, and at two or three games across the last two games), his concentration, his kicking (either trying to be too quick like at Morton or with poor distribution as we`ve seen a few times this season) and his tendency to stay on his line at set plays
Which needn`t be an issue in and of itself but needs a dominant centre back to take charge (a John Terry type).

A stopped clock is right twice a day,
I`ve said it before but I`ve seen enough good keepers in a pars top to know mehmet is not one of them.
He`s been no better than 2nd choice throughout his whole career.
It`s a situation that needs to be addressed for next season, if that means him proving me wrong I`m all for it.
Even yesterday`s goal he`ll be thinking he could`ve done better.

His 24 shut outs last season were due mainly to it being a poor league and having a decent settled defence in front of him , not down to his goalkeeping prowess, he is at best 1st division level

I`ve watched it back again today and he`s still at fault for me.
Either come for it or react quicker. Not doing anyone any good standing there letting it bounce off you to the striker right in front.

Has our GK coach actually played football at a decent level, I don’t even know who he is to be honest?? Maybe somebody can assist me with that??
Was on books of Airdrie and East Fife but retired at early 20s due to diabetes. Has his own coaching school. Used to be used for all the Raith community clubs teams as well.

He was hopeless last time we were in the championship, he got an easy ride last season & is being found out again. Should have done much better on the first goal but what on earth is he doing at the second. Never moved for a ball that was an arms length away then starts waving his arms about when it goes in looking for god knows what. Gives the boys in front oh him no confidence at all.

Mehmet being blamed for second, but Edwards utterly awful. Didn`t look at the ball once. Every corner we had, Raith set themselves up to protect the centre of the box and it worked. Didn`t help that Chalmers practically has a sit down on his way to take them.

Like others here I am no fan of Mehmet , for me he is ok as a 1st division keeper and this has always been my opinion of him even before he donned a Pars strip
Last Year he got it easy in a lower League ,
good keepers command their 6 yard box and help out their defence , but what I have seen of Deniz I understand why he doesn`t come out for a ball , because it`s a juggling act which you see more of in a circus ! he very rarely hold a ball
On the Goals yesterday I really do not think he is solely to blame if at all any blame is proprtioned to him , Take the first Raith goal when at close range a ball is hit at you the likelyhood of a keeper catching it is near impossible , Breen to blame here he didn`t get a connection on it or it`s cleared
2nd Goal Edwards is the culprit not on the right side of the attacker Ok o`reilly has a hold of him but should never be in that situation ,
Over the period most games when the other team gets a dead ball situation / corners included I virtually close my eyes because we seem to switch off at dead ball situations , we never watch when teams are taking short or quick corners etc nobody seems to know who they are marking !! and if you look at corners etc this is where we seem to let ourselves down by gifting teams goals !
Flip side of this is that we are losing goals to Basics !! we can go through the team not just Mehmet and pick faults with anyone , but it`s not about picking faults but learning from them , but we do not seem to learn anything , Others have said about us having different players in front of mehmet doesn`t help either , but i am not buying this a save is a save ! and a keepr commanding his box is the same it then gives more confidence to his defence ! It`s a hard watch at present because we keep giving away cheap goals and then we are chasing the game , and unfortunately at present we do not have the quality to convert the chances we make , nobody thinks about going to the back post in case the person at the front misses or as more than often happens the ball in the box misses everyone we need to gamble more , and for this Friday night against queens we need to score first to get anything out of the game , my apologies for maybe going off the subject of Mehmet , but trying to be realistic with my views like others we can only tell it as we see it ! one thing for sure we all Hate getting Beat , and especially to Raith

I think you can turn around the argument about making saves that come around from crosses into the box to the fact that they shouldn`t be happening in the first place either due to the goalkeeper commanding the box in the first instance to the defence clearing the ball or being in the right position to clear the ball.

1st division keeper earning a good championship wage.
He’s here for another 2.5 years and I guess we’ll struggle to justify the wages for another keeper to start ahead of him. Mcpake has put us in stasis at best until we can move the experienced keeper, midfielders and forwards on he’s signed up for next year.
