I think we are going to do it.
Airdrie have a nightmare next three.
Pretty much down to the final head to head.
If they manage to beat Raith, Partick, Utd and us, they deserve the playoffs. I don`t see it, though.
I believe we can take full points from our last four games.
The spoiler v Raith is very much on the cards.

The teams further up the league get home advantage second leg in each of the three ties.

It`s 2 legged with home leg 2nd for the higher placed team, 4th v 3rd, then the winners play 2nd and the winners play 11th from the spfl.
All matches are 2 legs with higher placed team playing home in the 2nd leg,

Love the optimism and we have the easier run in on paper, although all of our last 3 games are against teams who will have something to play for themselves.

Had another wee browse at the run-in.
I am going to be bold and say I think we can take 12 out of 12 points.
Airdrie will crash.
Lose to Pars, Raith, Partick, and Utd. Only taking 3 more points.
Morton will get a draw v Ayr then two wins v Arbroath and Inverness.
Pars 54
Airdrie 48
Morton 47

Really depends on the next two fixtures.
Airdrie could win against Raith and beat us and effectively its over, entirely plausible scenario.
Alternatively they lose and we beat them and it’s game on and we’d go into the run-in as favourites.
Various other scenarios but I think come end of Saturday we’ll have a better idea on how likely we are to compete for 4th.

I`d rather not, Parrot, but as I seem to have rattled your cage, I feel I should make the effort. And it`s a bit rich you calling me a bird brain, my feathered friend. 😀
To suggest the Pars will win their last 4 games is a pleasant enough thought, but wildly optimistic. Every opponent has something to play for. A promotion play off or a relegation play off to avoid, so none of them are going to roll over. We could conceivably draw the lot but I fancy we`ll win 1, lose 1 and draw 2, giving us a total of 5 pts. Don`t ask which teams we`ll take these points off but I think we`re 99.9% certain to be in the Championship again next season.

Airdrieonians are on a fantastic run and have only lost once in their last nine games.
Anything can happen but it does look like they are in the right gear and firing on all cylinders.
Tonight`s game against Raith will no doubt fuel the debate on this thread further.

I don`t mind getting ahead of myself for a bit of fun with just 4 games to go.
That is how I think it will pan out.
Noted that tonight`s result could turn my opinion upside down.
If we do finish forth, it will be tough beating Partick and Raith over two games each, but not impossible.
Should that happen, this will be a season to remember regardless of whether we win promotion or not.
I don`t expect that. Too much even for my optimism.
Or do I? Hmmmmm!

Let’s just finish 5th and stick to the game plan and continue building a decent squad before attempting promotion to the Premiership………we’re nowhere strong enough as yet. I reckon we’ll be playing the Rovers, Partick and Airdrie again next season along with Falkirk and Livingston. We need to be better than them over the season to have a decent chance in top league. Need some new faces next season and build around Todd, Otoo and KRH……and find ourselves a striker.

It is an interesting one about Strikers. I can think of 5 who were arguably the best we have had in recent years. There are others. And how you can “find” a class striker. You can pay through the nose (the latter 2), take one with a proven record (middle) or take a chance on a striker (first 2)
Watson, Jack, Smith, Crawford, Brewster.
Total lottery and also depends the way you play. Total lottery, I feel, but one we must surely get right sometime soon.
Nisbet was very good also hence the reason I used arguably.
Interesting times, if we add another striker and who.

Yes I agree. We are not yet a team that can compete in the Premiership. We need another season in the championship to build the experience of the players, get the training and development facilities up, and running and start to reap the rewards.

With games running out, their six-point lead and their better goal difference (+5 vs -4) Airdrie are obviously in pole position to reach the play-offs. However, it is not over for us just yet. As each goal we can score will improve our goal difference relative to theirs by two goals - this weekend`s match will be key to our chances. In honour of Harry Melrose, can we summon up the spirit of our 10-1 win over Partick all those years ago and claw back most of their GD advantage? We will need some luck, a decent ref, flashes of brilliance and for us to click on the day; but if we could beat them by say a three goal margin on Saturday and then go on to win our next match by a single goal, and they were also to lose their next game by a single goal then we would then be back level on points with only a marginally worse goal difference of 0 while they would be +1. JMcP claiming, rather unconvincingly, on COWS that tomorrow`s game isn`t a `must win`! Mackay, Montinagni and Meggle were all watching Raith v Airdrie on Tuesday night while he was at Ayr v Morton.
Player availability is the same as last week although a final decision re Hammy depends on medical opinion. There`s a special mention for Andrew Tod who may make the bench and also Ewan McLeod who seems to be rated highly.

It is a must win, if we lose we’re 9pts behind with three games to go and they have a better goal difference.
If it’s a draw, we remain 6pts behind with three games to go and I can’t see us making up that gap with the time left.
So whilst mathematically it isn’t a must win, realistically if we have any ambition at all left of achieving fourth, we have to bag the three points tomorrow.

I find hammy a funny one, spoke to him in the norrie against partick and said if he was allowed to play he would`ve, regardless of injury(may be exagerating) but the boy woulf honestly play with half his arm hanging off, if he stays he could be a legend for us imo
