He shouldn`t have been allowed to leave. If you required a goal with 10 minutes left he was your man. We let him go, I said so to Cook, his response that it was money.

We`re frequently told on here that performing in the seaside league proves nothing. Does that not apply to Todorov then?
On another matter, Airdrie have virtually cleared out their full squad from last year; some have left voluntarily but others have been released. I wonder what`s behind it?

It`s interesting the number of players that have just become available in the last week or so - eg Rudden, Kerr, Alston, Todorov. You can see why some clubs don`t get their business done too early.

Yes he was part of that squad, barely got a game however plenty members of that squad are still here and somehow get offered 3 year deals!! Plenty players released now but we won’t sign any of them as won’t fit our ‘policy’

Fully full time now, eck. Were operating on a hybrid model of a mixture of FT and part-time players, last of the ones who had jobs outwith football were out of contract and moved on hence why Callum Gallacher went to Arbroath.

Wonder what brad Holmes is doing with himself these days. Mcpake played him more than Sutherland wonder if we would try and acquire his services again?

Said earlier but cook has already made it clear they weren’t making many signings this summer. It’ll be a goalie whenever they can find one and 2/3 loans end of the window.

TAFKA SP, thanks for the info. Presumably Fordyce (to RR), Telfer (Ross Co) and Todorov are full-time. Not sure about Ballantyne (to Morton), Rae (gk to SJ) and Gabby McGill who also left. Maybe McCabe`s planning a different style of play.

Would have him over McCann, doesn’t run about like a headless chicken but knows where to be in the box to get on the end of things. Has done it before in this league and never got a fair chance under either yogi or mcpake. We’re not bringing in another striker tho.
Speaking of former players, has Jakubiak lined up a club yet?
Does seem some clubs are ‘releasing’ players such as todorov and Alston, are they paying them off or just making everyone know they are free to leave?
A few more defeats and some contingency funds may well become available for another experienced player, question is will mcpake stick with the tried and tested experienced players he and Dave have worked and had mixed results with at best or will he finally consider someone he doesn’t know personally but is fit and has quality.

They are mutually agreeing a termination of the contract between player and club.
The club wouldn`t agree to a deal which means they pay the player fully upfront for the length of the deal. Likewise the player wouldn`t agree to terminate that contract with nothing else lined up unless paid in full. The gap in between is never publicly confirmed . It maybe a player isn`t wanted at their current club and has someone lined up for similar wages so they agree to leave for free, it may mean everyone acknowledges the club have overplayed and are cutting their losses by agreeing to pay 50% of a players wage and the player takes a 50% wage cut at their new club but these are just general sums, as in any negotiation there`s a chance one side wins or loses.

Cheers parsforlife, I can think of at least 1 player we should be evaluating to see if we can come to a mutual agreement. Prob is he won’t have many or any suiters.

Todorov isn`t a prolific striker but he`s the kind of guy who gets on the end of a header when you need him to. He did that for us in the 1st division and did that for Airdrie last year.
We let him go but I`m not convinced we got anyone better as a replacement. Same can potentially be argued about Paul Allan this season. Due to restrictions, we`re letting guys go who would do the job but we can`t risk being bench warmers. If there`s no competition for places then you risk there being no incentive to try, especially with older/more experienced players.

He was the 2nd top scorer in the championship when we signed him from Inverness. He also had a decent scoring record at Airdrie. Great striker at this level but our management were unable to utilise him effectively due to their incompetence.

He was rather limited in his play outside the box. Maybe that`s the reason Airdrie have decided he can go too, rather than `managerial incompetence`.

Always liked Todorov, he scored some very important goals for us in our promotion season and was sad to see him go.
No chance he’s coming back here though when we’ve got McCann, Wighton, Sutherland and Kane on the books.

He has never scored 10 or more league goals in a season. When he was released the majority of fans were quite happy about it.
